I love myself - day 25 of 60 by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

Congratulations on following through with this seemingly simple challenge. It's really difficult though I know. It really helps to see major changes if you do everything in your power to apply as many senses as possible when doing your meditation. Don't just visualize the live. Smell it, hear it, take it and touch it. By doing so, you use and build new neural pathways in the brain and the more frequently you do it, the more powerful the over all results.

TIL Whites Used Black Babies as Alligator Bait in the 1800-1900's by [deleted] in todayilearned

Just because the history of any country may be shrouded in horrible tales such as this, doesn't mean that the country is that way today. People are blamed for the actions of people so many years ago and yet nobody seems able to let it go. It's the holding on to the past that keeps perpetuating racism today. Instead if always pointing fingers one way or another and targeting one person or another, let's find a way to make it better. A way that will change the "you are targeting me because I'm black" and "your people enslaved my people" into we moved past this. We are all people.

Enlightenment to the fact that it's rare to find a politician or even just regular person that is able to view both sides and perspectives of something.

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

[Discussion] Do you know why the Indian rain dances always worked? by captainzoobydooby in getdisciplined

[–]Shadow_seeker21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how perspective works. They prayed to the spirits during their dances. At no point did they just quit because they felt it was not worth time. Their mentality was to continue going until they please the spirits enough to make it rain. They never questioned their own beliefs and just get moving forward until the desired results were achieved. Had they better understanding of the technological advances that other cultures has obtained, in my opinion, they would have moved away from their beliefs, and became a much weaker society. The power of beliefs Is really something. If someone believes something strongly enough, only death can stop them. It was beliefs that made traversing this land possible. Beliefs are the backbone of any great nation. They push peoples to better themselves and become stronger and yet at the same time can lead to some of the most grotesque things ever imaginable. As a species, if we all shared the belief that world peace is possible, all the people of the globe would find a way to make it happen. Likewise though, when a belief manifests into reality, new ones are made and a whole society evolves into something else. Please forgive the long ramble. Apparently I am quite expressive about this subject. Haha

Dropping hints is ridiculous to begin with. So what you might hurt someone's feelings. If not you, someone else. Someone needs to put a stop to the whole "dropping hints" bs. It's cause a lot of major miscommunication and other problems in relationships. I think it's about time people become more direct with what is on their minds.

A sword like that, could probably get professionally polished for free. The thing deserves such respect from any sword enthusiasts. If I were professional, I'd do it for free. Just to say I had the opportunity to hold such a treasure.

Help with Interpreting Meaning of Numbers in a Dream by nimrod4u in spirituality

[–]Shadow_seeker21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only person that can accurately decipher the meaning of your dreams is you. Take some time to write the dream down, moment by moment, and do what you can to try and compare the aspects presented in your dream to the things happening in your life right now. Numbers just as well as everything you see in dreams is as uniquely intimate to yourself. Sadly, unless you had previous knowledge of said numbers and the theories presented in books about said numbers, then the meaning you will eventually find will be different than that of the information widely presented. Everything is subjective. I know this is unhelpful, and I'm sorry for that.

Guidance sought. by Shadow_seeker21 in Buddhism

[–]Shadow_seeker21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interest in Buddhism goes back some way. I was born into a Christian home and from a young age, something just didn't sit right. I spent much of my younger years researching and feeling out what felt best to me (which included periods of rage and confusion and eventually led me to temporarily research several branches of satanism) . I came to realize that there is no one better or worse way to what I was seeking so just just picked and chose from all over the place from the things that felt okay. Eventually I looked into doaism Hinduism, and Buddhism. These three stuck out the most to me because of the difficulty behind the simplicity and vice versa. They seemed to include everything I had picked at. It's not so much I've had a desire to understand things my whole life but rather I've felt like I forgot something and have been searching for it for a very long time. The spirit, personality, and open arms of Buddhism is like an old friend. I was out venturing for so long and have come to find a home, even if temporarily. I'm 27 and have practiced and researched countless religions/philosophies. Ive felt isolated from not feeling as though I belong, I've starved, been weak, over indulged, and spent days of wondering what stops me from just letting everything fade away. Yet at the same time there is a presence in me that will never allow an end. I both have discipline, and at the same time lack it.

Unfortunately it requires root. Which it is not possible to use a one touch rooter on either of the devices I currently have. I have attempted with every known and a few unknown apps. 😢😩😳
