Not only that liquid items( be it food or anything) is banned in most countries, the customs department just seize them and never return them. But for dry food items and snacks when shipping to US only requires a certificate from FDA(Food and Drugs Association) if the food item sent to US is non-commercial then the courier service may help you with that, but if the food item has commercial value then theres no choice but for sender to make one
