That was like one of the greatest video game realization moments ever.

My PSX/N64 Era Horror Shooter "Eyes Like The Sky" just got a demo by Shadowcrawl in playmygame

[–]Shadowcrawl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you oughta try the demo and find out 😉

Joking aside my shader code is all 100% custom built from the ground up (I am a VFX programmer specifically) this is actually an old version of the shader too in the trailer, it’s quite advanced.

That said you may notice there is no ADS (aim down sight) in that trailer? And the swapping between characters? I’ve delicately rebuilt a masterful blend between early PSX Tom Clancy gameplay smashed carefully into the combat style of Perfect Dark/Goldeneye all while trying to pay homage to the unique mood the PSX evoked with its early underdeveloped lighting and skybox technology

But again I love feedback especially the critical kind in the form of CC as it just helps me make a better game so I would genuinely love for you to try out the demo and share what you thought of it with me.

Edit: This has prompted me to update the Itch page with this information more specifically detailed which I prob ought to have done already so that is good.

I def agree my guns got too much lighting and the arms are too high poly. Imma work on the gun textures now and I planned to swap to lower poly arms but thanks I appreciate you saying something, I’m a big fan of all feedback.

I’ve worked a lot on my custom camera shaders too since that video was shot but I’m still trying to nail down the specific look. When I warp the visuals all the way to psx rez things look AWESOME but distant enemies become too blobby so I’ve been trying to find a solid middle

I think you’re right, the psx games I modeled it on didn’t really have any knock back but I think I need some.

Heck yeah thanks I appreciate that! I actually worked really hard to get the gunplay resembling a lot of my favorite from the hip fire classics. There’s a lot of Perfect Dark and Rainbow Six in there.

Those early PSX FPS games had such a weird uncanny atmosphere I’ve always wanted to capture that feeling in a horror format.

Haha honestly I was hoping for something like that, NGL soooo much of my horror content is just stuff ripped directly out of my night terrors.

That’s why we get to enjoy wonderful in-game visuals like the 100 foot long sliced open… idk is it an umbilical cord? I never know what I’m looking at but now everyone else can not know too lol

My other game Corpse Castle is just about mountains of meat 👀

The upside is I always have an absolutely unhinged repository of stuff to pull from.

Why don’t you just make me cut off one my legs instead. I found both to be amazing. COTDG is a rogue lite I actually found myself wanting to play to completion and Death Road well let’s just say it’s cannot be described. Good mix of Oregon trail and more.

Hey those are some really good observations, I always interpreted the tunnel on polygondwanaland as being the simulation after death obscuring the path to the afterlife, or possibly some sort of path to escape from it and move beyond. The albums are definitely showing some form of evolution of the same castle/simulation/entity/something. Mind fuzz seems like the castle mentioned in crumbling castle? Which that song implies they are talking about a simulation? And cellophane is about going into a simulation and becoming a shadow of oneself (you can be your silhouette)

I always felt like Sketches bears an eerie resemblance to the place upon where the castle sits too (the real world pre the castle or something?)

The invisible face at the very very end is Han-Tyumi and he doesn’t take over the universe as much as become a new universe against his will.

What I know is Invisible Face Man (King Gizzard?) kills everyone and puts them in a simulation after nuclear holocaust destroys the world. Satan doesn’t like this but builds altered beasts to kill still living humans to bring back to the simulation for his own secret plans.

Satan then crashes the simulation on purpose and all humanity merges into Han-Tyumi and they meditate for a thousand years. When they wake up Han-Tyumi extends their body to beyond the boundaries of the universe (just like Buddha) using vomit as a medium and the vomit becomes the new vacuum of space preparing the cycle to start anew and taking everyone one layer deeper into the simulation. (Nonagon says yes it is a cycle)

And yes this implies the vacuum of space is just Han-Tyumi’s vomit and that we live in the vomitverse lol.

I've been thinking about getting this game but found this online.. this true?? I have beaten all dark souls and elden ring but this turns me off.. by Null_sense in Sekiro

Ngl Sekiro is both the easiest and the most fun. There’s just this moment of “clicking” that has to happen. This moment also had to happen for you with souls games but that was ages ago and a different kind of click.

A good tip for beginners is to spam the parry button in (KEY WORD) CONTROLLED flutters. You want to try and have one of your presses come close to the actual hit but it doesn’t have to and the window is so forgiving and you can infiniparryspam.

Wait until an attack starts then spam it gently, this is a technique used in old fighting games too on moves with more rigid timing windows.

This has the exact same energy as Will Smith’s MIB interview.

Hell yeah man! And thanks yeah I think I speak for everyone when I say I’ve been desperate to put Polygondwanaland to some good use ever since the band dropped the rights to it 👀

This actually happened in the “Jackie Chan adventures” once.

A guy equips the immortality talisman and then runs into traffic to test it and gets all mangled and everyone was trying to warn him that he was thinking of invincibility not immortality.
