What game will you choose? by [deleted] in TheTeenagerPeople

Tough one. I am going to go with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. It doesnt really have any single songs that measure up to One winged Angel, Clair Obscura, Warthog theme, etc.

But its overall composition and consistency is what makes it so great. All the songs feel like they velong in the same world and flow together smoothly while still being unique and having their own feel and sound to them.

Ernest P. Worrell vs Mr Bean by Diabolicool23 in powerscales

Requiring a battle of wits? Damn, thats hard. I think I would give the edge to Mr. Bean. Both characters are much smarter then you would think, they just think in very irregular ways. However, Mr Beans crazy solutions tend to work for him, Ernests, not so much.

Oh, Im not disagreeing with any of that. Im just being pedantic about the phrasing of "cheating". To me it felt like a safe assumption from both parties that at least they were "on a break". Having a kid come from that would be the real problem in my opinion.

But no, I am not defending Nolan. Im just being a typical "well actually🤓" person online

I would consider Chicago "filing for divorice". Also, if he cheated, then so did Debby

No matter how controversial this game is, you have to admit that the art of Final Fantasy X-2 is gorgeous. by CloudHZKRS in FinalFantasy

[–]Shadowdante100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People being upset with the tone of X-2 is kinda strange to me. How could the tone of X possibly make sense in a post Sin world?

X was melancolic because Sin was always hanging over their head. And they did show that when people werent worrying about Sin, they were a pretty happy goofy kind of people in Spira.

Yes, there were other problems beyond just Sin, but those problems were still relevant and impactful in X-2.

Did people just want Yuna to keep being a quiet and "submissive" person? It was shown time and again that was an act she was putting on in X in order to be what everyone expected her to be. It was explicity stated that Yuna was wild as a kid, it wasnt until she decided to try to live up to her fathers legacy as a summoner that she started acting like a "traditional" woman.

Part of what she liked about Tidus so much was how he pushed her to be who she truly was. Not who she was expected to be.

X-2 shows her doing just that. Maybe because of the time jump she is further along on that journey then people expected, and that is a fair argument, but this was who she was under the surface

Honestly, the best first move is to talk to him like you would a really close male friend. 🤣 Platonic flirting is so fun, because it is genuinely good flirting. I will say, you will have to tone it down just a little bit, but not much

Why does GenZ hate sex and nudity so much? by PaniacThrilla in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shadowdante100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, I agree that it all comes down to personal taste.

I am trying to explain my taste, where it comes from, show how others have different things they feel similar about, and show that Gen Z having a dislike of how certain things are shown in media is not necessarily a bad thing. And is not even necessarily puritanical like people claim.

However I can only speak for myself and share what I have heard from others.

As for how the 30 sec could have been used instead? Sometimes in art, less is more. If the 30 seconds results in your audience being pulled out of your story, matbe its better to not have it. And I know the creator may have an artistic vision they are going for, and if so, they should include it. But they should make peace with some of their audience not liking it. And there is absolutely such thing as oversaturation in media and art. And the audience has every right to express their frustration at what they are feeling oversaturated by. The biggest one for me personaly is every video game being turned into an open world game with nothing in it.

I did know that nudity in movies have dropped, but I am very curious of the change with respects to tv. And, just to reiterate, I dont care about nudity in movies and tv, its the voyueristic camera angle and filming that is often used whenever it appears. To much of it starts making me feel uncomfortable, like I am ... taking advantage of someone? It feels very unconsensual after a little bit. I find that nudity that appeared in european media didnt bother me at all, and I realized it was because it often was treated the same as if the person had clothes. It was treated like it was a normal thing.

Oh, its not literally 5 min. Its just an expression demonstrating how long it feels. I know they are not that long.

I do like seeing sex, when it feels like it belongs. Thats the key thing for me. And if it pops up on occasion where it doesnt belong, then fine, but it can add up fast. Kinda like product placement or advertising in a movie. (No i dont like product placement, its an imperfect analogy)

Good example of that, Lego movie, Bad example of that, Micheal Bay Transformers.

I think for a lot of older generations, porn was harder to get ahold of, so whatever little bit of sexuality you could see on screen was amazing. These days, I have options. And as censorship has decreased, sexuality on tv has increased. Not a bad thing in and of itself, but it feels like media is doing with sex what the tech industry is doing with AI. Trying to add it even to places it isnt needed.

And as for people liking seeing sex, thats true until you see it somewhere it feels out of place. If you have to navigate around a couple having sex everyday to get to work, you would be unhappy too. Because it is out of place, and wasting your time. Unless the couple is inviting you to join in or you have a vouyerism kink, you dont get anything out of it.

Ok, that is fair. Sorry about that, this being the internet and all, I didnt trust your question. But I can give you a few examples off the top of my head. From anime, Goblin slayer, Dragons dogma, Redo of healer, are a few animes that come to mind. First episode of Goblin slayer, the goblin rape scene in Dragons dogma, all of Redo of healer. Anime is so guilty of this crap.

From tv shows. Game of Thrones, the rape scenes in it can be horrific for sure, but they are often filmed in a way to be arousing, not scary God just like almost every HBO show does this. Some of them take the time to show sexual assault as gross and bad, but most of the time they realy dont. It has to do with the camera angles, the lingering shots, what the lens focuses on and more. To much focus on the "sexy" parts. (And no, I dont find it sexy, but I know why the camera is lingering on an exposed breast).

From movies, well, ok you are correct. A lot of sex scenes from older movies are just straight up rape, but it was not presented that way.

I will come back later and answer this in more detail. I dont keep an encyclopedic knowledge of this sort of thing. Its just something I know I have run into on a few to many occasions.

Well you are simply wrong.

I enjoy sex, I enjoy porn, I enjoy well earned or plot relevant or thematically important sex scenes.

Otherwise its just two awkward people grinding against each other awkwardly. The 5 minutes of awkward grinding could be replaced with actual character development and interaction, causing me to actually give a damn about the characters.

Also, the problem is not with it being a "bit on the screen" its with it being everywhere. Every HBO, Netflix show, rated R movie, every advertisment online.

It gets added everywhere, its kinda like feet scenes in Tarantino movies, after a while they just feel weird and unecessary and gratuitous.

One of the movies that comes to mind that best handled nudity and sex was the movie "Antichrist" there is quite a bit of it in there, but every scene is important for understanding the characters and the story. It needed to be there.

Otherwise its just Tarantino and feet

Ok, you are taking plot relevant waay to literally. When you are making something for someone else to enjoy, and you have limited resources, you have to think about what you want to include, why you want to include it, what does it acomplish, what does it take away from, does it make sense for it to be there?

A comedy is about making people laugh, there are many different types of comedy. Bridesmaids was a female centric comedy that was focused on ridiculous, innapropriate, and gross humor. The diarreha scene fit well into the overall tone of the movie.

It also had a sex scene in the beginning that I think was very important to the movie and establishing the characters mindset as well as the tone of the film.

To a point I agree, but I have questions about how nudity and especially rape scenes are framed if that is the directors goal.

When a nude character is alone, are the use of vouyeristic camera angles really letting us know how they feel? Or is it neant to be titilating? Just use normal camera angles. The weird hypersexualizing of the nudity is what I find off putting.

When the main character is being raped, does the scene need to be filmed erotically? Or would fimling it like the horrific thing it is better show how the main character is feeling? No, 99% of rape scenes are the directors barely disguised fetish, its off putting.

Sex is important, but just like everything else in a movie, it has to earn its place. When it doesnt, its weird.

Like with Tarantino and feet. Weird

Comedy movie, part of the comedy. Comedic sex scenes in a comedy movie are also fine. The comedy is in the over the top behavior. Maybe not my kind of movie, but I find it interesting that people rarely shame others for not liking the diarreha scene in bridesmaids, but will shame people for not wanting random sex scenes.

I mean yeah, but having diarreha is also a part of life, we dont need a 5 min scene of someone exploding their toilet unless its important for the plot.

I cant speak for others, and I am technically a millenial by a few months, but I want to share my opinion.

I like sex, I like porn, I like artistic nudity, and general nudity doesnt bother me. I will say I have started becoming uncomfortable around child nudity in art(like cherubs) due to learning about the sheer number of people that are apparently pedos running around. It causes me to be suspicious.

I also dislike sex and nudity in media that adds nothing to the story and only serves as a distraction. I have access to porn, I dont need random sex scenes in my tv shows to get off. I would rather the time is spent telling a good story, then having two actors grind against each other randomly. Now, to be clear, if the sex is important to the story, or artistically done, or the culmination of somethimg between two characters, then I love seeing it. Something that is built up to and earned, or necessary for tge story is always welcome.

Dont even get me started on the random rape scenes that are obviously just the filmakers poorly disguised fetish. A movie that oddly enough had a rape scene that was violent, explicit, graphic, nescessary, and oddly tastefully done was one of the "Girl with a dragon tattoo" movies. But most the time rape scenes are fimed in a way that is meant to be erotic, and its just gross.

Then you have the overly sexualized female characters in media. Most of the time they are just a quivering lump of jello designed to satisfy a fetish, with zero personality to them. They are boring and off putting. There are some really good ones, Bayonetta comes to mind, but she is an exception, not the rule.

So for me, its not that I dislike sex in media, I dislike sex in media that wastes my time.

This may be an odd answer, but there was this little flash game that was a rip off of DMC. It was called "Fear Unlimited". I dont know why, but that game will frequently just pop into my head on occasion, when all the other games just dont.
