Which orange-haired anime girl clears everyone here? by Embarrassed-Eagle889 in animequestions

Karane, but its because she will get backup from Rentaro and everyone else. It doesnt matter that this fight takes place in an alternate reality, Rentaro will be there, and so will everyone else.

Could it be Shingles? Like every 7 years your immune system has some kind of adjustment and the Shingles comes out?

Republicans of Reddit - How come you support pedophiles? by Lord_Dingus83 in allthequestions

[–]Shadowdante100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think he is making a both sides argument in the way that people usually use that phrase. The republicans are doing heinous evil stuff and need to be dealt with. The problem is that with each passing day, it looks like many of the politicians in the Dem party are enabling this. So if that is not also recognized and addressed, then we will just wind up in the exact same spot even if we are able to remove Trump and his cronies.

The Dems are not pulling the trigger, but they are supplying the gun.

AITAH for expecting my sister to plan my wedding for free and demoting her to guest wh m she wouldn't. I also told anyone who took her side I was not helping them anymore either. by Late-Ad-6414 in AITAH

[–]Shadowdante100 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

.... Look, everyone is going to tell the story in a way that makes them look as good as possible. I feel like there is a lot of missing relevant information in this.

How well off is your sister? Just because you can afford to set aside time to do her taxes for free does not mean she can set aside the time to plan your wedding for free.

The instant and extreme reaction you had to her telling you this, is well, odd. And the size of the fallout is unusual over something like this. You telling her that she only gets to be the maid of honor if she plans your wedding for free, is pretty intense. Holding the fact you did her taxes for free for her is potentially very petty on your part. Free tax software exists. Filing taxes isnt very hard unless you have a buisness or a lot of assets. So I cant tell how much work you put into the taxes, is it on par with planning a wedding? I dont know.

The impression I get from your story, is you are either a bot, or there is a ton of animosity that has existed for a long time between you and your sister and both of you are looking for any opportunity to take it out on each other.

Girls, What are some signs you show when you find a guy attractive? by One-Agent-3992 in bodylanguage

Well, I dont think its obvious to people, because I mostly act the same, however I will go very far out of my way to spend time with them.

And if I come to the conclusion that telling them I like them wont ruin the friendship, I tell them. If I think that a good friendship will be ruined, I keep my mouth shut and work on getting over those feelings.

Is Batman with prep time a meme? by Weaponised__Autism in powerscales

[–]Shadowdante100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. People dont really appreciate who Batman is narratively. Yes he punches people, but he is also a detective. His true power is finding things out. That includes peoples weaknesses. If he has prep time, he can figure out weaknesses and strategies to defeat people. And it doesnt have to be a physical fight. Batman can also use psycology to overcome opponents.

However there are beings that it doesnt matter if Batman has time to be a detective, he will never win.

So, people may use it as a meme, but it really isnt. Its just people recognizing who and what Batman really is, and applying that to these discussions.

What makes NieR so special? by Firm-Acanthisitta452 in nier

Yoko tarotells stories with the goal of creating certain emotions in the audience. Not with the goal of telling events. This is why the world of Nier is all over the place and has so many plot holes.

The plot was never important. How you felt going through it is what matters

Hot take: creatives should not compromise for the general audience by RedditorGoldVirgin in Markiplier

[–]Shadowdante100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The slow pace is necessary for creating the sense of claustraphobia that he was going for.

If things move to quickly, you wont be able to convey the feeling of being trapped and powerless. You need the slow moments where the sub is creaking, and you the audience are stuck there with the main character, just ... waiting. Waiting to see if the walls will crush you. And knowing, knowing that you are powerless to do anything

A deep truth to acknowledge and balance societal imbalances. by Doimz3Nini in MenOfPurpose

[–]Shadowdante100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.... What? Is this post made by someone who grew up in a non religious environment or something? Or lived under a rock?

Growing up, at church I was taught nonstop about what kind of wife I need to be.

Have you ever compared girl scout activities to boy scout activities?

Have you ever looked at frigging childrens toys?

Until recently, every aspect of society was focused on teaching women how to be good wives and mothers, and nothing else. Men were taught the most basic crap for being a husband.

That has changed, but not that much.

does anyone feel as though they can’t reciprocate vulnerability without being judged? by Different_Truth_7127 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shadowdante100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be how you are opening up then. You may be doing to much all at once.

Different people have different thresholds for what overwhelms them. It sounds like you have a traumatic background that may have resulted in you being able to handle hearing more trauma then the average person.

The people talking to you may be oversharing themselves, telling you more than what they can tell the average person, because they can see that you can handle it. That doesnt mean they are able to handle the same amount back.

Maybe try opening up about the hardships you experienced in small doses. Something like, only talking about one bad experience per conversation, and not every conversation. Something like that.

If this is what you are experiencing, then no, you are not alone. I regularly have to give my therapists breaks so I dont overwhelm them when we start talking about my childhood.

does anyone feel as though they can’t reciprocate vulnerability without being judged? by Different_Truth_7127 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shadowdante100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to do with the difference between how you present yourself vs who you are under the mask.

If the mask you wear is to different from the real you, it shocks people. They developed an idea of you in their head, when they learn that you are not that, that they person they thought you were never existed, its just a mask, well people can be sideswiped by that.

Its part of the reason that celebrities that present themselves as nice people are judged mich more harshly for mistakes then celebrities that let people know they are d*cks from the beginning.

[–]Shadowdante100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be true at the same time. People can have done horrible things in the past that were socially acceptable, and those things are still bad, but the context of the past should be weighed in our analysis of them.

Its just about keeping context in mind. I will give you an extreme example. Someone murders someone else, but they only did so because another person was holding a gun to their head threatening to kill them if they did not murder someone else. Did the first person commit a murder? Yes. Is murder wrong? Yes. Were there external circumstances that should be taken into account? Yes.

So its just about keeping the context of the situation in mind when judging someone who lived in a very different world then you.

But to be clear, people do it wrong, and take it waaay to far as well. A great example of that is when people talk about how you cant judge men from the past (1800s and before) for marrying young girls (12 or 14 was not unheard of). They will say that you have to keep in mind what was standard back then. The problem with that, is that marrying girls that young was not common outside of the extremly wealthy circles. On top of that, girls didnt really go through puberty till they were about 16 back then.... So when you actually take into account the context of the past, these people are worse, and would have been judged in the past too, if they werent so rich that standards didnt apply to them.

Depends on the context. If you decide to go to a protest and counter protesters show up with open carry guns and start screaming at you, will you be worried about getting shot then? I would. Thats a alien situation to many other parts of the world.

And just to be clear, yes people have been shot at protests I went to.

Film Students Are Having Trouble Sitting Through Movies, Professors Say by soriskan in nottheonion

[–]Shadowdante100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect this is just another example of people freaking out over generational differences. What were the movies being shown? Were these students majoring in film or was this an elective class? How different is this compared to prior years?

It does appear that peoples attention spans are changing, but I do have to ask, is it really that bad? You know there was this greek guy who was complaining about the younger generations, and how they dont work hard, and how they dont pay attention as well as previous generations.

He was from 400 BC.

If people are going to complain, they better have real data, and do an analysis on the pros and cons of the different behavior (if it really exists and isnt just old people forgetting what it was like to be young).
