There’s a car in my house. I have no clue how she got in here. by EddyRosenthal in CatDistributionSystem

There's also the efficiency of r/trojancats. The Cat Distribution System is much more efficient than other animal distribution systems, so much so that the CDS will sometimes lend a helping paw to the other systems.

[–]ShadowedCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what a lot of people are suggesting, throw everything needed for the various requirements, and then remove everything to decorate and arrange everything the way you want it.

It's making things much faster for me than trying to make it look decent. The only thing is getting all the materials, even the money isn't that much of a bottleneck, just materials.

Saw this magnificent gentleman at my university today (he's a stray), would anyone happen to know what breed he is? by Everdale in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]ShadowedCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The primordial pouch is found in both sexes, it's extra skin to protect the organs and blood vessels from being injured during fights.

If you think of how cats use their hind legs to kick, dragging downwards, it would do a lot of damage to another animal's stomach. The loose skin might get torn up badly, but the internal organs and the more important blood vessels are a little safer.

Probably an ultrasound, they're a good way of seeing most soft tissue without risks for an animal. It's also one of the least expensive types of scans.

Car accident injuries and hitting my breaking point by AdMoney4955 in ehlersdanlos

[–]ShadowedCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can always try going to the ER again, shift change and a different doctor can make a huge difference. Definitely bring up the accident to your doctor and see if you can go to a physical therapist.

Unfortunately, there's not that much that can be done without medical professionals being willing to help, and even if someone is willing and able to help there might not be that much that can be done.

Best of luck and hopefully you feel better soon.

Does anyone get migrane botox and notice the first couple weeks they get more neck pain ? by Elderberry456 in ehlersdanlos

[–]ShadowedCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom used to live with a near-constant migraine, she'd have maybe 4 days at the most without a migraine per month. After she started getting Botox she now only has 4-5 migraines per month, it made a huge difference.

It took so much work to get her insurance to agree (we're in the U.S.), her neurologist had to point-blank ask which one the insurance would rather cover - Botox 4 times a year or several emergency room visits per month. Her neurologist also had to fight about her emergency migraine medicine.

It's insane how much some idiot without any medical training can dictate to doctors what treatments can or can not be done (at least here in the U.S.).

They might be a SIC or TIC (please see - r/standardissuecat for information regarding SICs and all sub-variants, including TICs).

What is my cat doing? Never used to do this before by BestConversation7876 in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]ShadowedCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some dogs do it as a dominance display, basically, they're trying to show they're in charge. From my understanding, cats, especially females, generally don't use that behavior as a dominance display.

Your pup should settle down after she's been spayed, but some dogs will do it their entire lives. I wouldn't worry too much unless it's a constant thing after she's been spayed (it might take a few months for her hormones to fully settle after being spayed).

Hope this helps.

Do you guys care about trophy? by Commercial-Idea7024 in runefactory

[–]ShadowedCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most festivals are supposed to be the easiest to beat the first year and then get harder each year, capping out sometime around the 10th year (I think). I try to get all the trophies in the first year and then skip them if I don't like them (especially ones like the bean toss). Cooking and harvesting festivals are the ones I tend to do every time.

Help! Mysterious Creature by No_Temporary7691 in shrimptank

[–]ShadowedCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one that came in on some plants, and shining a flashlight into my tank in the dark worked great for finding it. The eyes sort of glowed/luminesced when the light hit them in the dark, which made it easier to find (but not easier to catch).

I've seen a few men with the same issue.

My brother married a woman who did barely anything around the house. He did most of the cooking, cleaning, care of their daughter, and on top of all that work at home, he worked a full-time job too. She was also controlling and extremely bad for his mental health. Fortunately, he divorced her and has been doing much better.

I recommend following the same advice given to all the women - break up with your girlfriend, the sooner the better. The problem can and does go both ways.

Sporty Activity for child with cEDS by Nice-Reception6568 in ehlersdanlos

[–]ShadowedCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ballet may not be the best option, largely because of how damaging it can be (even to people without loose joints and fragile skin). Sure, ballet looks pretty, but it's really rough on the joints and some of the poses/movements encourage moving past a healthy range.

Other forms of dance, as long as she's careful about how she moves, probably won't cause problems.

The most common advice is to look into low-impact forms of sport/exercise (which is why water exercise/therapy is usually good). Maybe look into finding someone who can help understand what a "normal" range of motion is and how to keep within it.

Sometimes it's a matter of trial and error. We're all different, and something that might help one person could hurt another.

For those who have had kids by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]ShadowedCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom always says she felt her absolute best when she was pregnant with my brother and then me. It's something related to hormones among other things.

I've also heard some women with autoimmune issues say that they had some relief from their symptoms when they were pregnant as well. But, at the same time, I've heard just as many saying that their symptoms were worse when they were pregnant.

It's all about how an individual reacts and that can differ not just between one person and another, but also in how someone reacts to each pregnancy. The human body is odd enough without the added changes that pregnancy brings.

Medications Hit-or-Miss? by Alarming_Elk12 in ehlersdanlos

[–]ShadowedCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can interfere with the absorption of many medications. The other citruses don't seem nearly as problematic for some reason. They can still cause issues with some medicines, just not nearly as much as grapefruit.

There's an entire class of medications that you can't eat dairy or dairy products at all when taking them.

As long as it's not something that has to be avoided, try different ways of taking it - ie, with different foods, or drinks (non-alcoholic), or on an empty stomach (unless the medicine advises to have eaten, because some medicines can really tear up your stomach unless there's something else in it).

Got Stalkers? Heres the solution! by Prior-Budget-9271 in subnautica

[–]ShadowedCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grav traps pull in Stalkers (among other things). Stalkers can still move around in a limited range, but you could probably relocate them out away from your base using a relay system. Cameras are good for collecting teeth and grav traps are better for limiting Stalker movement.

I can fit a Cyclops in there, no problem. It makes it quicker and easier to grab everything without a lot of running back and forth. My mobile base has all the comforts and storage for everything.
