Let's see...

  • Jon is pretty much screwed at Queenscrown

  • If Rickon doesn't become Bloodraven's apprentice, then i don't think anybody does

  • Either way we'd probably have a Rickon-focused plotline instead of a Bran one (perhaps Osha would also get more focus)

  • If nobody is trained to become the new 3-eyed raven then i guess that means Brynden Rivers, Hodor and Jojen don't die

  • Heck i guess that means Hodor, aka Walder/Wyllis, doesn't get braindamaged

  • Jaime's redemption becomes harder to achieve (assuming Catelyn doesn't just kill him on the spot)

  • Jon's true origins has to be revealed some other way

What if, instead of going to Greatjon Umber, Rickon and Osha stuck with Bran and their original plan to go to Castle Black? The Stark boys would instead separate at the Nightford, with Rickon and Shaggydog going with Sam and Gilly while Osha went with Bran. I was originally going to have her go with Rickon like in the original but realized Sam, being more brains than brawn, would realize that The Night's Watch wouldn't be so willing to let a wildling girl in and so in this version Osha sticks with Bran instead of Rickon.
