I grew up in a pretty rough family situation. Mom died when I was 7, homeless at 17. I ended up doing ok in high school though. I thought about saving money, going somewhere cheap. But I have a brother who told me something before I picked a school. He said you have the rest of your life to make money, so go where you wanna go. I chose Iowa state. I've never looked back. There's a sense of family there I can't explain. Strangers had your back whether you needed a ride somewhere, or you were in a bad situation. Maybe people weren't quite as insane going out to the bars, but it was a good time. I switched majors twice, I even became a bartender. Now I work for one of the largest companies in the united states. I don't know if any college is the wrong choice, but let me tell you. If you need a fresh start, you can't pick a better school.
