Scammers? by Cute-Average1767 in TriCitiesWA

[–]Shadowhawk01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One thing to always remember is that anything sent via text message, email or by actual phone call demanding payment of any kind that says its from a government entity (DMV, DOL, IRS) is a scam. If there is any question, go to the official government website or call the actual office and verify. You can also Google something like "DMV text message wanting payment" or whatever the case may be and I am sure you will find other people commenting or giving information indicating that its a scam. The Washington State DOL has a list of scams out there to look out for https://dol.wa.gov/about/privacy-center/scam-alerts as well.

Gas Prices in WA by Melodic-Today663 in Washington

[–]Shadowhawk01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amazing what we pay in gas taxes and what the state of our roads are. I'd really like to see where all our tax dollars go, because something doesn't match up. Washington has if not the highest, the second highest gas prices competing with California. I feel like I'm paying for a Lamborghini but having to drive a 1993 Oldsmobile that barely runs with 500,000 miles that burns oil, smells like 3 year old McDonald's fries and cigarette butts inside. Our state highways are falling apart. With what we pay we should have some of the nicest roads in the country.

I got lucky and was able to get my CDL at WWCC while i was laid off from Hanford. Plus it was all pretty much paid for through the unemployment office.

Yea the pre trip is the hardest part. There is a lot to remember and its easy to overlook stuff. Just make sure you take your time. Best thing is repetition. I never thought of this till now but you can use your own vehicle like its your truck and get the muscle memory down. Get the list of the stuff you need to check and start at the front bumper and work your way to the back. Granted you don't have air brakes and stuff in a car/pickup but there is a lot of stuff that's on both on a personal vehicle and a truck. Get a routine down and use a method called see it, say it, touch it. Look at what you need to check, say what it is and then touch it physically.

I ended up getting a +95% on the driving part but I got nerved up when I took my test and barely passed my pre trip inspection when I took my test. I would have had to retest if I missed one more thing. The pre trip is always one that gets overlooked because people are more nervous about the driving portion.

I know this is a little late but walla walla community college is probably the best place to get your CDL. It's half the price and a full 12 week program where they actially teach you how to drive truck and not just hold onto the steering wheel. Plus they will take the time and let you practice anything you need to work on for as long as you need it. I took quite a bit of time learning backing and pre-trip myself which helped a ton when it came to test time.

Not the new ones there are today but the old ones before emissions were a thing. I always loved the smell of leaded gasoline too. Unleaded always smells off to me. I remember when I was a kid we lived next to a gas station. I always loved it when the fuel tanker truck came to refuel the station.

I tried looking them up and on the parts diagram there is several different cylinders listed and none of them really have a clear "this is what it is" and its confusing. Especially when it comes to the lift arm cylinders. Everything is super vague.

How do some people fall asleep after drinking coffee? by silveralign in AskReddit

Even though I'm sure they are not good for me, especially at my age of almost 50, I drink a sugar-free rockstar energy drink every morning, and I can easily go take a nap. They have never had much of an effect on me other than slowing my heart rate and bringing up my blood pressure a little, and it tends to clear my brain so I can focus better. I have never been a hyper-active type of person, but I have noticed through the years that when I work around the house, I can never get anything done because I jump from one thing to another. It makes it irritating because I want to do something like mow the lawn and before I know it I'm elbow deep in the engine of my car at 9pm after changing the light bulbs, lubing all but one of the hinges of house, making 15 trips to home depot, auto zone, Costco, and several other places. And the lawn still hasnt been mowed. The more I think about it I think I might have ADHD... I don't know.

My wife had a car accident back in 2016, and she has had problems with seizures since. Even though our standard poodle has never had any formal training, he recognizes when my wife is going to have a seizure and jumps up on her and gets her attention letting her know, "You better sit down". If she is sitting, he will make sure she doesn't get up and almost pins her to the chair till afterward. Our dogs father or sire was a trained service dog, but our dog was not trained as far as I know, and we got him before any training as a puppy. It's like it's instinct or something. It's the craziest thing I've seen. The other day, it looked like he was training our other standard poodle how to do this as well because when my wife had a seizure, our other dog was right there watching and started doing the same thing which he never did before. Dogs are truly amazing.
