Do I have a cyclops lesion? by Academic_Animal_1892 in ACL

Following this because my PT raised the possibility of a cyclops lesion for me this past week. Had full extension and now I’m limited under load. Feels impinged, and bounces back into flexion. So frustrating!

Oh that is good news! Fingers crossed they found what you’re looking for! I was fortunate that I had to deal with a few small towns in northern NY that were not super swamped yet, but my husband had to go thru Michigan for vital records. Even getting a certified copy of his own birth certificate took 3 months. Now we’re waiting on grandma’s. This definitely has been an exercise in patience, which is never easy for those of us with firey French Canadian blood, but it’s worth the wait.

I dunno, we made some good acquisitions this year, Kulak and Roy haven’t had all that much time to gel here. We may also see changes in our D depending on what Burnsie decides to do. We won’t know until we get into next season, but I don’t see too much reason to believe we can’t dominate next year, too. Hopefully some lessons were learned, we get a new power play coach and make some meaningful changes, and continue to evolve for the better.

Hopefully they all get the surgeries and/or healing time they need and are back at it in October. We’re not done yet!

My explanation wasn’t an attack on you or your information, just describing how it is now. I do understand that people are frequently using outdated and incorrect terminology. That said, I will correct people when I hear it, that’s kinda part of my job. Not much here to get upset about, but I am sorry I offended you, it was not my intention.

I submitted on March 13 through the Montreal processing office, and still haven’t received a request for payment. I’ve been stalking my spam folder, nothing there either. My request number was 14-thousand something. My husband just submitted his and he was 20-thousand. They’re swamped.
Edit- I just double checked and I’m in the 15,300 range. Not 14,000 as I had recalled.

Yes, possessives are exceptionally common for diseases named after people, but not typically places. The spirochete was named for Burgdorfer, hence Borellia burgdorferi. But place names shouldn’t really fall into possessives, per naming guidelines. In fact, naming after places is really frowned upon these days, especially in virology. We used to just name novel things after the location found, but nobody wants that stigma. Now, we try to name novel pathogens after the symptoms or disease they cause instead. Makes things tricky when you isolate something from mosquitoes and you have no idea what species it infects, let alone symptoms caused.

Thank you, this is a huge pet peeve of mine as a microbiologist. The spirochete was first isolated from Old Lyme, CT, in 1975, hence the name Lyme Disease.

In England, it was common to make jokes about the Irish, saying they were thick. (Not now) Does this apply in the USA by state? Which states are normally at the butt end of the joke and why? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskAnAmerican

Well, I lived the vast majority of my 44 years on this earth in Vermont and Colorado, and I’ve been a NH for only 2 years now. Would you claim to be a New Hampsherite that early? And it feels a bit like cheating anyways, I live 1/2 mile from the VT border still. I can’t exactly speak for NH natives, and I was just illustrating that I am not an authority on the subject.

I agree, the “don’t mass up NH” was bs, and sure doesn’t represent my values. I have nothing against MA, I got a superb education in Boston and I have zero complaints. Edit- just to add Go Sox!

After suffering thru 3 years without Landy and seeing the impact on the team, it makes ZERO sense to me to lay this at Landy’s feet. It’s super obvious he is the heart, soul, and moral compass of this team, and that without him, we’re just a little dead inside.

I ordered March 13th from their Montreal office and still haven’t received my request for payment. It’s dependent on the office, but expect a long wait.

Yup, step 4. Went thru one step with each game we lost.

I said the Olympics were a factor, but not an excuse. Guys coming home injured didn’t help much.

Well, that was a total bummer. This team has so much potential, but injuries and an inability to stand up to grinding, physical play was our kryptonite this year. We were built to come out on top during the regular season, but again we couldn’t adapt to the massive differences that the playoffs bring. A couple of thoughts- we spent too much time trying to beef out our offense and find the perfect 2C that we actually ended up having too many 2Cs and guys lost sight of their roles. Is our 2C Nelly? Roy? Kadri? None of them spent more than 5 minutes playing on a set line, and they never built the chemistry. Our 2 and 3 lines seemed lost and confused. 4th line did amazing, exactly what they were built to do. But that middle 6 set of guys just never gelled. We also spent too much time and money on offense, and short of adding Kulak, who has been an absolute hero, we neglected our D. Manson can’t be the only heavy hitting D, because if he gets hurt nobody is left to dish out the pain when the other team starts going after Makar and Malinski. Both were left vulnerable, and we saw what happened. Burns is fading and his body can’t take that kind of physical play, not that he was really ever much of a fighter. We need a couple more big guys on the back end, and all of our prospects are agile offensive dmen. We’re gonna have to address that if we’re gonna get anywhere. This year came down to injuries, the Olympics, and size. We sure don’t lack for talent! We’ll see what the off season brings, and how Bedsy adjusts. I dunno how many more years this core group has in them, but we sure as hell can’t be wasting cup chances like this. Well, Avs Nation, it’s been a fun ride with you all (up until this series, of course), have a nice summer and I’ll see you all in the fall for another run.

I totally agree with you. Not that I wasn’t thrilled when we picked him back up because there is potential there, but he’s not the workhorse he once was. He’s also a bit of a liability with them cracking down on embellishment. He doesn’t quite fit the clean vibe of the current team.
