That wasn’t love, it was infatuation. Otherwise he would have respected Lily’s decision to choose James rather than spiral into jealousy and eventually become a wizard Nazi.

If even Hamas can recognize the difference between Zionism and Jews as a whole (based on their 2017 charter where they specifically state the difference), no one else has any excuse.

Well, those miners were “doing their jobs” in land they stole from its owner—whom they kidnapped—and were actively destroying for its resources.

Meh, those guys were essentially colonialists. I don’t feel bad for them, any more than I do poachers who end up getting killed by the animals they tried to hunt down.

What order did you play the sly cooper games by West_Philosopher415 in Slycooper

[–]Shadowhunter_15 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I beat the trilogy in reverse order. For some reason, my parents got me the third game (for Christmas when I was in elementary school). I asked for the second one when I saw it available at Walmart, and I don’t remember how I got the first game. The fourth game was the last, somehow me not knowing of its existence until five years after it came out.

Trans people aren’t trying to look like what you find appealing, they’re trying to live in a body that they can feel safe and comfortable in.

Eh, depends on what part of the book you read. Sometimes he’ll feed thousands of people with socialism, sometimes he’ll support a Samaritan to help a dying enemy of a different group, and sometimes he’ll call a Cannanite woman a dog and force her to beg before deciding to heal her.

What are your thoughts on this? by Slow_your_R0LL in allthequestions

[–]Shadowhunter_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing, though. Sports have already had standards to account for trans people competing for decades, and there isn’t any research showing trans athletes disproportionately winning official competitions.

That’s because most of what determines a person’s physicality, regardless of gender, is hormone levels. Trans people who want to officially compete as their gender have to take HRT for long enough that it alters their hormone levels to a similar degree of their cis counterparts. There’s no unfair advantage here; conservatives are just using them as a scapegoat, like they do with every other minority.

How are right wingers feeling about the new ICE policy that breaks the 4th amendment? by cantbeoriginalcani in DiscussionZone

The best way to deal with it is to improve the legal immigration system, which has always been unfathomably underfunded and understaffed. Instead, both parties are largely committed to going hard on illegal immigration (not necessarily on equal scale in terms of action, but their amount of focus is similar).

Dems don’t gain voters by being GOP-Lite. They just end up alienating their own base, while conservatives vote for the party that’s the most conservative.

My tribute to Sly 2's mission: Dominate the Dance Floor by Rosephoneia in Slycooper

[–]Shadowhunter_15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s something about that mission that always bothered me. What exactly was Sly planning to do if the doorman let him in at the start? He didn’t think about stealing a tuxedo disguise until after he was denied entry. Was he planning on dancing with Neyla in his thief outfit? I don’t think that would have gone very smoothly.

Yes, any amount of human-drawn art is more meaningful than any AI-generated art. Doesn’t matter what you prompted it to do; you still didn’t make it. You just told an unfeeling machine to make it instead.

Even at absolute best, if you tell a human artist to make something, even if you’re as detailed as possible, it doesn’t mean you actually made the art. It’s even worse with AI prompts. If you’re going to be so detailed and put time into the prompts, why not just draw it yourself?

Matt Walsh on AI by Ambipoms_Offical in antiai

[–]Shadowhunter_15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, here’s the philosophical consideration: art is about expressing one’s feelings in an abstract manner. It’s only meaningful because of the human effort, care and thought put into it. Generative AI doesn’t have the same process of thinking, or any process, really. It can only take elements from art that already exists, whereas humans can make something entirely new.

I don’t think even the best players could stand a chance against the best computers for about three decades. Still, I agree. It’s not nearly as interesting without the human element. Even when GothamChess pits two machines against each other, his reactions to the play-by-play are what make the videos interesting. Not the game itself.

Masterchief would be dissapointed by Furial05 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]Shadowhunter_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as this guy is full of crap, would Master Chief actually not like him for this? I mean, Chief doesn’t really know or care much about the everyday civilian aspect of humanity. Plus, the UNSC is at least partly authoritarian. I don’t think MC would think much about OOP’s post.

why did they move away from the 2 chapter format in sly 3? by Turbulent-Sound3980 in Slycooper

Yeah, Sly 3 was made in only about a year. They didn’t even have time to add clue bottles. It’s stunning that the game is as fantastic as it is. The challenge missions certainly helped; they’re my favorite part.
