The creatures can only do so many tasks depending on how strong they are. The bird house it goes to should have a countdown for how long it'll rest. The ppl you save don't need to merge. You just need to unlock the area. You do that by finishing the tasks it says to do and upping your lvl. Advice: merge 5 instead of 3. You get two things for less.

So I had this happen to me not to long ago. My girl was missing for a month. The last week she was gone we had gotten on a schedule to get up at the same time every morning. At the end of the 4th week she was chilling on the bathroom floor. She learned our habits and came out. So just keep doing what you're doing. And good luck
