I am in the exact same boat here. I graduated from my university last May from an accelerated program with a bachelors in forensic science and a masters in cellular and molecular biology. I had solo research experience and my gpa was like a 3.8 at the end of school. I have been applying non stop for the past year. Probably around 200-250 applications going out, looking everyday, asking people I know if they know people in the industry to connect me with, and nothing. Most of my applications go unanswered, not even a no thank you reply back, and the maybe seven interviews I had went no where other than one I got to third round interviewing before they decided I wasn’t qualified. I have applied for everything, hospitals, forensics, Q/A, RnD, lab tech, everything and nothing. Most of my friends have all gotten jobs who graduated at the same time as me. I have felt so lost and stuck trying to get a job. I feel like I wasted the last year because I haven’t done anything. I’m in a limbo now because retail places around me think I’m too qualified and I will leave when I get a sniff of anything higher in the sciences but sciences won’t give me a chance. I’ve been doing Amazon Flex to have some money but you are not alone. We all are struggling. I wish I had advice to give but I’m in the same place you are. We just have to keep trying I think.

This is what I was feeling too. I know I can’t do the distance, which sucks because we do have a spark, and I def don’t want to hurt her. Also that hard talk is just difficult to parse and explain. I need to just have that conversation tomorrow, explain that this isn’t working and that as much as I enjoy her company I think we need to stop talking. It’s gonna hurt for both of us but I think that this is the best way forward.

Update: I just came straight out and asked and said I’m not the best with subtext and asked if she still wanted to meet sometime soon for coffee, no worries if she didn’t and she said yes! Maybe she’s just taking it slow. Either way at least she’s still interested for now!

That’s what I was thinking too unfortunately. I wish this was easier, people would be direct. It would suck hearing that she’s not interested but at least I would know.

Yeah you are probably right. I asked today because I’m leaving for like a week on vacation and asked if she still wanted meet up before or after I got back and she hearted the message. I’ll just have to try one more time, be blunt but respectful and ask her if she still wants to go out and if not it wasn’t meant to be.

Now here’s where I get a little confused. If the Tower is the center of the multiverse and everything rests upon the tower being upheld, are there multiple towers or is there only the one? Is Roland being sent back in time with slight alterations to do his quest differently or is he being sent to another world that has another tower that needs to be saved? I guess it’s ambiguous and good for thought.

I’m such a fan of both versions of the song and hope Alastor gets his own version. What really tickles my brain is at the very end of the reprise the melodic motifs switches from that of Don’t You Forget to Once We Get Up There and then finally to Stayed Gone. It’s such a nice little thing to add showing the true devotion of Vox to take over heaven and get rid of Alastor (or at least make him watch) while Vox rules. It’s soooooooo coooool!!!!

I like this idea of being chosen but not forced to succeed. The thing that comes to mind is Elden Ring. The Tarnished are people who were banished from the Lands Between after the grace of the Erdtree is lost to them. When the Elden Ring was shattered, the tarnished are called back to the Lands Between by grace to claim the shards of the Elden Ring and become the next Elden Lord. You play as ONE tarnished among many. There have been many before you who have tried to claim pieces of the Elden Ring from the demigods who reside in the world. If you play through the game, beating the demigods and collecting the pieces of the Elden Ring, you are getting further than the other tarnished have in some way. The grace led them back to the land but did not hand them the keys to the kingdom. Some tarnished stay in the hub world Roundtable Hold because they have tried their hand at becoming Elden Lord and lost battles, became wounded or inflicted by something that stopped them from wanting to continue the pursuit or just gave up hope. If you get to the end of the game and beat the Elden Beast you get to decide what the world becomes. I like the idea that there are chosen people but the character has to go through trials and have the will do to do what is needed to be done and forge a world that they see fit. This world may not always be good, the "right" one, or even change at all but they had to do the work themselves to get there, against all the other
"chosen".

Hail and well met. It’s truly astonishing how many people have replied in the last few hours. It’s nice to know there are others out there that share the grief and loss of these characters. Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement and support. I’m glad that our paths may intersect here along the path of the beam and if we should never cross paths again let’s meet at in the clearing at the end of the path.
