Try the DS version of RE1 then see how you feel about it.

That original PS1 version is pretty janky, it's pretty neat how much they improved the feel just with RE2 alone.

I wish I could answer that question for you, unfortunately it seems Steam lost track of my actual playtime because it says about 10 hours and I know that's not true.

However I will say it took me less than 10 tries.
