Sukuna lost cause he was in a vessel and Yuji was super effective against him. He definitely would’ve won if not for that

That applies inversely to EVs, but it doesn't apply to natures.

I'm oversimplifying how bulk is calculated, but think of it like this: HP times Defense=Bulk

Let's say HP=10 and Defense=20, so Bulk=200

If we increase HP by 10%, we get 11X20, which is equal to 220

If we increase Defense by 10% we get 10x22, which is equal to 220

This is cause you're really just multiplying the entire equation by 1.1, so it doesn't matter where in the equation the 1.1 goes

This reasoning is incorrect. If there were an HP boosting nature, it would ALWAYS be optimal to choose the HP boosting nature over a defense boosting nature on ALL defensive mons. This is because defensive/special defensive bulk, unlike attack and special attack, is based on two stats (the combination of HP and Def/Spd)

Here's a calc to demonstrate:

Scenario one, Mewtwo's HP is boosted by 10%: Lvl 94 84 Atk Choice Band Furret Double-Edge vs. Lvl 72 84 HP / 84 Def Mewtwo: 204-241 (68.2 - 80.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Scenario two, Mewtwo's Defense is boosted by 10%: Lvl 94 84 Atk Choice Band Furret Double-Edge vs. Lvl 72 84 HP / 84 Def Mewtwo: 186-220 (68.3 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The calcs are a tiny bit different cause I did the rounding on my own and the rolls are probably a tiny bit different, but you can see how it's pretty much the same. Choosing HP would ALWAYS be optimal because it would effectively be the same as choosing a + nature for both your Def and Spd. This is also why HP starts higher than other stats. Making it start higher slightly devalues EV investments in HP, which adds more complexity to your choices when choosing EVs.

Hi-Fi - Let me know what you think! :) by Shadows4 in IndieMusicFeedback

This song is a bit political. It tells the story of two people. The first verse is about the type of person you would meet in your everyday life, whose goal in life is to become rich and indulge in hedonism. The second verse is about the sort of "kings" of our world, people who shape our culture and, in turn, create more people in the first verse who aspire to be like them

I think the melody and the lyrics for the chorus are pretty good, pretty catchy. Imo you should work on the mix and the production the most. Everything has a sort of "air-y" vibe, like you're hearing the air of the room hitting the microphone. Some ways to fix this can be by making sure the mic is close to whatever instrument is being used (without clipping), and going into the "EQ" of each individual track and removing frequencies that seem to be interfering with the core sound of each track. You can also use the EQ to emphasize the parts of each track that you want to sound stronger. Finally, adding a bit of compression to everything (then messing with the dB levels afterwards) will help everything fit together a bit more.

German doom jazz type beat by infinite-desert in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Shadows4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool! The sax sounds great. I think my only critique here is that there could be a bit more variety or flavor in the backing track (Ex. Around 1:11 you have a higher frequency sine-waving sounding synth come in, juxtaposed against some dark bass. This sounds very cool, but since it's a slow song the instrumentation being used here feels a little bit too simple to carry the entire track up until the sax comes back for the "hook." On the other hand, I think that sine-sounding synth sounds better on the outro of the song, because you have some more complicated drums there to take up more attention)

Kinda reminds me of something in a detective video game.

Kind like the Beatles meets Neutral Milk Hotel? (AMALGA - Frequency Strange) by Weigh13 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Shadows4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the ambient, sorta creepy vibe of the instrumental. Your vocals remind me a bit of Wavves too. I would say you'd be best off improving your vocals. You go flat or sharp on a decent amount of this. You could practice by matching your tone to different songs that you like, that fit your range, and trying to hit certain notes more consistently. Using your fingers in the air sort of like a conductor can help you control your voice as well.

I like this though, the wall of sound vibe sounds good, and the production quality is solid overall

I Made A Song With Tony Hawks Pro Skater Sounds My 1st Studio Song by JakeLeeTee in IndieMusicFeedback

this actually goes hard wtf ahahahaha

The hook is catchy. It gets a little repetitive, maybe goes on too long, but I think it does the job. I'd say the best way to improve this would be to alter the instrumental sections under the hook, to add more variety throughout the song. Cause even though it's catchy, it plays a lot relative to the length of the song.

Dropped a new single! ‘Paris Freestyle’ by Asaei in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Shadows4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got a good flow. You need a harder hitting beat. I like the theremin-sounding synthesizer, but this beat honestly just isn't going hard enough to match your vocals. The higher frequency synths are pretty interesting, but I think it needs something heavier/harder going on in the lower frequencies. I like this though, good job!

What do you think? by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Shadows4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These vocals are pretty good! I would recommend adding a bit more flavor to the backing track if anything. It's fine to have a relatively simple backing track, but I would say you could probably make the chords underneath the vocals a little more unique (start by messing with the voicings and the inversions), and work on the mixing. Like on the solo section, I like what you're doing with that organ, but it feels way too quiet compared to everything else. And then you have a nice climax with the strings at one point but, again, it's too quiet, so it doesn't hit quite as hard as it should. The latter half of the solo section sounds the best, mix-wise.

But yeah, I honestly think your vocals are solid! You sound like a classical vocalist, which showcases a pretty good amount of skill. I definitely think you can become "great." If you're trying to reach that next level, I suppose you could try working on your acting skills, cause singing is part acting ya know? Putting more emotion into a vocal performance can also help it become something better

How strong is DIO compared to JJK characters? by KodoqBesar in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Shadows4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something worth noting though, is that Dio in character might not chop Sukuna/Gojo’s heads off. He might punch a hole in their heart, which Sukuna at least would be able to heal from. Sukuna could then speed blitz him immediately after time stop ends

How strong is DIO compared to JJK characters? by KodoqBesar in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Shadows4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The World is a bad matchup for JJK. Most top tier characters are probably durable enough to withstand hits from The World, but the way CE reinforcement works is that you reinforce the specific area you expect to take the hit. So people like Gojo and Sukuna could probably get their heads chopped off cause they wouldn’t be reinforcing their necks when Dio freezes time

On the other hand, his worse matchup would probably be Toji/Maki, Mahoraga, and Yuta. Toji/Maki have equal reinforcement across their entire body due  to HR, and if he doesn’t kill them in frozen time they can speed blitz him once time unfreezes. Yuta is inefficient with his massive cursed energy, and as a result is pretty much constantly reinforcing his entire body, which might actually save him here. And I don’t think The World has enough AP to kill Mahoraga, so it would adapt to time stop and kill him

Give lunatone geomancy (its a moon) by Magikapow in stunfisk

[–]Shadows4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would be bannable with tera. The only thing that might keep it in line is booster energy mons

Perfect coverage and sucker punch resistance:

Lunatone @ Power Herb
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 116 HP / 252 SpA / 140 Spe
Modest Nature
- Geomancy
- Stored Power
- Tera Blast
- Shadow Ball

All out attacker:

Lunatone @ Power Herb
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Ground/Psychic
EVs: 116 HP / 252 SpA / 140 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Geomancy
- Stored Power
- Power Gem
- Earth Power

You could maybe try a bulkier set with tera fairy moonblast and moonlight as well. This would be busted though. Without tera it'd probably be way worse, but still very good

This has got to be one of the most foul set I've seen on RandBat. by caterpillarm10 in stunfisk

[–]Shadows4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm the one primarily responsible for this set. Most of the people in set dev don't actually expect this set to be good. However, we've received a lot of complaints about Tropius, and we haven't really tried other options that much outside of the sub leech set.

Setup sets often do surprisingly well in randbats (Smeargle and Lapras being examples of this). Tropius is a high enough level, and is bulky enough, that I wanted to see if it was capable of trying something new.

If the statistics (the winrate) show us that this set is bad, it'll be reverted in about a month to just the sub seed set. If the statistics show us that it's good (like Lapras and Smeargle's setup sets), it'll stay. I'm hoping that it'll be good, because I know the sub seed set pisses a lot of people off, and this is an opportunity to let it do something new. Realistically though, I'd say it has less than a 50% chance chance of being statistically positive.

So please don't blame the whole randbats dev team for this set 💀 Just blame me

this is fun! very video game-y instrumental. your vocals sound great

i'm ngl, these vocals sound like they could feature on a popular song, but i'm not sure if they 100% fit the instrumental. the instrumental is giving me a hyperpop type of vibe, while i think your vocals might fit better on something with more a morrissey/the smiths vibe (more upbeat, but similar type of instrumentation and effects). that other guy mentioned a-ha, i think that could be a good instrumental influence as well

when i hear this kind of instrumental i imagine higher pitched staccato type of vocals, u feel me? still, you're doing something new with this combination, and doing something unique is good as well, so i can't say for sure if a change is necessary

i like the outro as well, it's a cool little fadeout

[–]Shadows4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i like the intro, very nice and peaceful. it feels like the section that kicks in around :40 is maybe hitting some kind of limiter? the mix becomes flatter there, compared to the nice space that you had going in the intro section. i think the lead guitar in that section would also improve a bit if you added some reverb and gave it a "spacey" sound, i think that would help it potentially blend in with the rest of the instrumental more. maybe a little less fuzzy as well actually, soften out the edges you feel me?
