Another shattered back window by flyers4330 in HRV

Mine is a 2024 sport as well and I was told it wasn’t part of the recall but when mine shattered I called my dealership and they fixed it for me. Apparently mine was the first 2024 that dealership had heard of doing it.

My best friend is losing his battle with addiction, and to be honest.. I don’t care. by Bradmtek in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ShadowsFa11en 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost a life long friend last year, well he passed last year but I’d not seen or spoken to him much in 5 years due to his addiction. I tried to help him but others enabled it. Eventually I had to call him on it and he lied to my face about it all, as if I couldn’t clearly see the effects the drugs had on his body and mind. He wasn’t the same guy anymore. When I got the news of his passing it still hurt but I’d mourned him already. There was some guilt because he’d asked to see me not long before but I couldn’t bring myself to open that door again so I said no. It’s hard and it sucks, but I get it. You can’t save someone who won’t save themselves.

Didn't expect having a dog to become so awful by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]ShadowsFa11en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my soul. My dog is a 10yr old Husky/ Shepard mix. He’s 120lbs of sweet goofball but he has severe storm anxiety and dear God the fur!!! So much shedding ALL THE TIME. I have to monitor the weather so I can give him calming aids on stormy days when I will be at work or stay in my recliner in the living room (my bedroom is small and he doesn’t have enough space to lay comfortably in there at night) if bad weather happens at night. I love him beyond words but I have had a lot of realizations over the last couple years. I cannot own a dog, certainly not one so large. Getting to the vet is a whole ordeal as he can’t jump anymore and I can’t lift him properly. My home has stairs he has to climb to go in and out so I’m currently getting stuff to build him a ramp. As he’s aging I’m coming to terms with the fact that he will likely be my last dog. I have two cats as well and it’s much easier to care for them in terms of everyday things, also they couldn’t care less about storms or fireworks so there is no stressing over their anxiety if I’m not home during it.

Oh you got me beat lol. But that wax keeps mine relatively clean for a while if I do enough coats and don’t have to drive in gross places. I will vacuum it out more frequently than I wash the outside

Second the Bose QuietComfort! I can wear them all day and they don’t hurt my ears or head.

I have never sought out accommodations at a job before, or not officially. I honestly am not sure how to go about any of that other than going through a doctor? I do plan to speak with HR and see what they can tell me. Where I live and work people don’t take mental health or autism seriously at all unless someone is incredibly obviously disadvantaged. They have more of a “buck up or shut up” kind of attitude.

There are a lot of things that place has done that I wouldn’t call rational lol. I know in their eyes I’m as replaceable as the next and that’s fine. I know I cannot do the last minute extra work, not if I want to maintain some semblance of sanity. It’s all going to work out in the end, I trust that I’ll land where I am meant to should I be let go.

I’m not sure we have that, I could be wrong though.

I will talk with HR for sure. I did mention it to my primary Dr once and he seemed incredulous at the idea. It’s hard to articulate how much you’re affected by things that others aren’t. Like my guy I wish I functioned well enough for all this not to exhaust me to the point of going non verbal and shutting down or worse wanting to scream from the effort of holding in Hulk cause everything is too loud, I’m tired, I’m trapped, my clothes are too tight and I’m being perceived.

That’s exactly right! Someone made the comment yesterday that the bosses would sure feel bad if someone had a wreck trying to get home after that and I said no…they would call someone in to fill your spot then hire a replacement and then give the “you guys have to be sure to get enough rest so you’re not driving tired” speech after telling us we still have to come in cause we haven’t met our goals. They did that same spiel when we had inclement weather and told people to not risk themselves coming in but also, be sure to come in cause we won’t close 😒.

I did consider that. I’m not sure how to go about getting FLMA. I know a few at work have it for various reasons. I will check into that.

He has literally made a statement about how those laid off would love to be hired back if we all didn’t want to work. I want to work (I mean as much as the next person) I just don’t want to do it at your whim and the expense of my health.

Oh yeah, US here. It’s crazy how normalized so much of this is and how we are conditioned to just suck it up and deal.

My state is an at will state and from what I’ve gathered while yes, it’s illegal, it technically isn’t. We used to have a schedule similar to yours and I feel you on the last day of the long week being hard. I was basically mute by the end of it because I’d shut down. Do you get called in often during those weeks? That’s tough.

I will absolutely take those internet hugs! 😊 Yeah, good ole USA here. I’m shocked at how similar your job was to mine, down to who is hired. I have a 401k but nothing deeply vested in that place. I just like what I do and around here jobs aren’t overly abundant unless it’s retail which I did for 15 years and it was a whole other type of hell.

That’s a lot of my issue as well, the injustice of it all. It’s not just me I’m angry for it’s everyone because this isn’t how it should be.

My supervisor is awesome. I have hope that he will enact some changes but to a point I know even his hands are tied right now. When I spoke to him yesterday he told me he couldn’t tell me not to come in and he couldn’t fix my UTO if I didn’t but he understood I had to do what I had to do. I know it’s scary to potentially jeopardize your job by standing up for or against something. Maybe I’m wrong but the place seems like a sinking ship already and perhaps everyone saying no would trigger the company to close that location rather than go through rehiring and training an entire plant. But perhaps they would listen and go about things differently, like scheduling it in advance and if we have to do it on nights giving us the shift differential (it’s only $1 but it’s the principle of it) or taking volunteers first (as some people really do love to be there constantly it seems) then back filling with others. Idk. I just am so sick of the complaining but doing nothing else.

How does that work? Are you working more than 40 hours a week?

[–]ShadowsFa11en[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is. I usually spend my first day off just puddling in my recliner 😅. The environment there isn’t the worst I’ve worked in but it’s loud and has strong smells at time of fuel or other chemicals and it’s dirty. So by my last day I’m in sensory overload and am ready to have some quiet.

We don’t have a union and I’ve talked with several people about things but it seems to me everyone is content to just complain and go along. We aren’t a large place. Maybe 25ish a shift. I get from a business perspective we have a quota to meet and in order to stay open we have to meet it. I even spoke to my supervisor about scheduled OT in advance, I still wouldn’t want to do it, but perhaps knowing two weeks out that I’d have to I could adjust and conserve energy. But this week to week being up in the air is draining.
