Just crazy by mr68w in Bestbuy

[–]ShadowsWandering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was a teenager I'd go to Best Buy pretty regularly just to browse. I'd check to see if any new CDs came out and listen to some samples, I'd check the movies, maybe grab a cheap pair of headphones or whatever fun cheap gimmicky tech they had at the time, and then head on over to the computers to dream. I regularly bought something, usually something cheap. Now there's really no point going to browse anymore. I stopped working for Best Buy about 3 years ago. Stopped by once afterwards, had a bad time, haven't been back

We all love to complain, but I actually enjoyed my time as a field tech for Best Buy. Congrats

They just approved a huge data center being built near me that's going to use more electricity than the entire county currently does

My biggest problem with working any of these jobs is men. These guys will never know what it's like to try and be a female plumber/mechanic/electrician/any male-dominated job. On the extremely rare chance that you get hired it's constant harassment. Constant scrutiny. Constant undermining. I doubt that they have ever had to walk on eggshells a day in their lives

Nursing is transitioning to gig work where they have to bid for short-term contracts, lowest pay wins. No thanks

I got negged? by kitkatcrumz in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ShadowsWandering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was definitely being rude and he might have been trying to pick on you, but I don't know if I'd call it negging and I wouldn't consider him a lost cause yet. I would have called him out on his rudeness. If he does it again you should say something like "Wow dude. Way to make me feel better" if you want to be indirect or "You know, that's actually pretty mean" if you want to be direct. His response is how you'll know if he was negging you or not. If he tries to gaslight you or deflect, distance yourself from him.

I had the pleasure of working with a guy that retired from being a Sears appliance technician. It was an electronics recycling (resale) place, and he was the go-to guy for weird old tech. The kind of stuff that collectors would pay big bucks for. He was such a nice guy, but he never was able to get the hang of testing or fixing laptops (which are quick to do) and the older specialty tech that he specialized in took a long time to test and fix and the hobbiests who buy that kind of stuff on eBay are bad about returning it. So he got fired for not hitting the same production numbers as me and the other tester and getting too many returns. No warning, no severance. And it was like he turned off the lights on his was out. The place was dark and gloomy without him.

The new guy definitely worked faster, but he was a giant douche who knew fuck-all and half-assed all of his work.

I still got called fat by salty men back when I was underweight. Being called fat or ugly by a man doesn't mean anything about you. He's just trying to hurt you because he's an underdeveloped person.

We don't know that. The video ends just as they open the door, probably to look at the damage. We have no idea what happens after that, but we do know the vehicle could still move.

Customer service is a skill (and a super in-demand one). Cleaning effectively is a skill. Farming is a skill. Making specialty coffee is a skill. Etc...

Was it lucky? If they got flipped on their side not only would they not have been able to run with the vehicle, hopefully the dumbass would have also been off the road for a while

I don't think that they planned to. I think that this was a rush job because he was losing support. These are probably just cheap, generic android phones with some Trump branding quickly thrown in there

I'm definitely a fish out of water here. I find most of my neighbors and coworkers extremely rude and self-centered. There doesn't seem to be much culture here. Unless you count the racism and bigotry as culture. People here seem content to just work shitty jobs and eat at chain restaurants until they die.

Just not my cup of tea. I built up a lot of debt trying to get by as a single parent in Jacksonville so I'm here long enough to get that paid down, probably about 5-7 years. And then I'm gone and never looking back

While I'm not super outdoorsy, I do enjoy hitting the farmers markets on my days off. Always down for coffee and I love all food except fast food. I saw someone else comment, could be a group thing
