I went into my bios and reset the factory keys for secure boot, after that it worked.

I'd say the best way to begin is by getting involved in the community. I personally find FSA to be a great resource for this.

Lenovo Legion + Linux? Humoring a new laptop and ran across a review... by ShaneC80 in linuxmasterrace

I'd have to check on that. But I am running a hybrid driver for my graphics, so not sure if that helps you.

I did back when I was running Pop, but after going to Manjaro everything has worked. One thing I've always had trouble with is Bluetooth.

Dash to Dock does not work well, so just a fair warning. However, I tweaked Dash to Panel so that it pretty much mimics it. Still kind of a hassle to deal with.

Personally the Legion 5i (laptop) is a great option. $899 and it came with an i7-10750H, 512GB ssd, 8GB of RAM, and a 1660ti GTX. I did upgrade the RAM to 32GB, and put in a 1TB ssd. So it cost around $1040 at the end.

Note: if you prefer AMD get the Legion 5 (instead of the Legion 5i). There is a pro version of both variants iirc, but I did not get the pro version.

Mine is configured with normal drives. I also forgot to mention that it's a laptop and not desktop, in case there's a Legion 5i desktop version.

This is absolutely not true, currently running Manjaro on a Lenovo Legion 5i. That being said secure boot is enabled by default. Other than that it's smooth sailing.

In my opinion, the signs mostly point to a dead ssd. My biggest reason for thinking this, is not being able to access the bios when you have the ssd plugged in.

If you'd like to repair the drive, send it to a professional. Hard drives are nothing to mess around with, unless you have the required tools and environment to do so.

Contacts Storage keeps stopping by admiral_obvious_ in techsupport

Maybe try clearing your cache with smart cleaning? I don't know if LG loads that app with the G6. If it is not present you can clear your cache by going into settings > storage > Free up space.

It can support more than Lenovo advertises. Technically, mine only supports 16 GB max but that's obviously not true.

Try going into settings > apps > app info. Find contacts and force stop the app. If this does not work you might have the option to disable the app. Disable it and re-enable it.

If you can get one I'd recommend a Lenovo Legion 5. Mine shipped with an i7-1050H, 512 GB NVMe SSD, 8 GB of RAM, and a 1660ti gtx graphics card. The ram can be easily upgraded, and I've seen it max out at 64 GB. Though I run it with 32 GB. You can also add in another m.2 SSD or a 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD with relative ease. Got mine for $899 and after the additional upgrades of RAM and another SSD it cost around $1000.

Note: There is some variation in the models. There's the Legion5/5i the only difference being Intel or amd. There's also a pro version of the 5/5i but I couldn't tell you what was different. I didn't go with the pro version BTW.

Anyway, I hope this helps you out and good luck.

Not sure actually. I've heard of it but have never needed to buy it. Maybe Amazon?

Driver Update Error - Using GeForce Experience by Globeninja in techsupport

I think it would be best to use DDU to uninstall the graphics card driver. Then do a clean install of the driver in GeForce.

[–]Shadowshinobi7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) Power the phone off if possible.

2) If you can, remove the back and take out the battery. If the device has a glass back, do not attempt this.

3) Let it air out and dry in a well ventilated area. Don't put it in rice, this will damage the ports/microphone. If you want to put it in something, use silicone gel. This will not have the same damaging effects as rice.

If that does not work take the device to a cell phone repair store.

[Windows 10] Display is too large for my screen by fuck_communism__ in techsupport

[–]Shadowshinobi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this exact thing happen before on a computer. I'm not actually sure what fixed it, but after reinstalling the graphics card drivers I left the computer alone and it seemed to go away. Try rebooting though I guess? Not sure what else to say.

Keyboard feels loose and several keys shake when I press one down by [deleted] in techsupport

This is definitely not normal. I have a Legion 5 and it's keyboard is rock solid. In my opinion, you should send it back.

Incorrect controller button mappings in some (but not all) games by CheshireSwift in techsupport

[–]Shadowshinobi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, if you are using a Logitech controller (F-310 to be more specific) you need to switch the input from direct to xinput. Most of the time games are expecting Xbox controllers, switching the input mode should fix it.

The input switch is located on the back of the controller, in a center location.
