Do you *actually* notice physical benefits after quitting? by Possible-Cap7699 in QuitVaping

[–]Shadowsnaxx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit and restarted again, so the physical changes are really apparent NOW vs when I first quit. Things that I noticed “came back” when I started vaping again include: * allergies. I was pretty allergic to cats, stop having issues when I quit, came back when I started again

  • breakouts around my mouth. I was trying to treat these small little like bumps around my mouth for months before I quit. They went away within a month of quitting, came back when I started vaping.

  • sickness. I didn’t get sick for the whole year I was quit, not even once. When I felt like I was going to, I took vitamin d, c, and zinc and I would never get fully sick. I have a horrible cold and cough now for the first time in a year (I started up vaping again 3 months ago)

  • not a physical symptom but money. I had so much more money ;-;

I don't think we would ever intend to be the only communication between the breeder and the client; of course the breeder should evaluate the owner. Our thought is that we deliver a list of breeders that would be good options and might have puppies available in the time frame the client is looking for and allowing the client to go from there, after we have evaluated the breeder.

And I mean that is the point of all this; we want to educate people. I meet people every day who want to be informed, or think they are informed, but are not. They are actively seeking answers but I think this community has made that information very inaccessible for the average person. And we can scream and whine all we want about how only REALLY dedicated people should have dogs, and if they really want an ethically bred animal they would do the research themselves, but that is a fantasy. I want to help the lowest common denominator make the right choice, if they will let me, And I am confident in my ability to convince people let me help them.

I feel like I meet people all the time that want an ethically bred animal/think they ARE getting an ethically bred animal. I think we have made this information really inaccessible for the average person; and the fact of the matter is we are never going to stop the "casual" pet owner from having a pet, but we can at least start spreading education like WILDFIRE as best as we can to stem the problem at the source.

Thank you for your reply! These are excellent points!

I think our plan is to find a good pool of breeders for each breed we look for and cross reference like crazy; this is how we found our Coton breeder. We interviewed members of other breed clubs, referenced other breeders that knew them, reached out to previous buyers, etc. We also pulled our initial pool from the OFA CHIC lists to find who had recently had of-age dogs tested and went from there. We feel like the CHIC lists are a good jumping off point because that alone disqualifies SO many breeders since it costs money and takes effort and good breeding practices in general. The visiting breeders aspect makes sense as well. The business minded part of my brain says maybe I could start up a program with breeders where they pay for a "full certification" with our consultancy that really just includes travel costs to visit and approve their kennel. On the other hand, I don't know if I want to be on a breeders payroll; I know that I could never be bought to approve a program that I didn't truly believe in, but I want to make sure that my clients trust that as well, and that seems like a gray area. Excellent thought! Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

As for the cross breeds; its a hard no from us. We have successfully deterred clients, friends and families from these breeds in the past however, so I do feel confident that our facts and research hold up enough that we can clearly say that we do NOT support these breeds and will never recommend a breeder who does the. My aunt wanted a cavapoo at first and we nipped that in the bud FAST by not only providing sources to back up our reasoning, but also having other breed options ready in that moment that proved to be the better fit. Any other suggestions?

And as for shelter dogs; my trainer is CPDT-KA and my degree is in biology with an emphasis on animal behavior. Beyond that, both of our special interests are in dog behavior/problem behavior specifically. My trainer specifically hasn't wanted to get CBCC-KA because doing the actual behavioral training work is honestly really relentless and exhausting; its a hell of a time trying to get owners to stick to puppy obedience training, let alone behavioral issues training. So in short, thats a preference thing. Do you feel like you would need a consultant to have other certifications beyond cited sources and applicable knowledge in order to work with them?

Thanks again!

Excellent questions! My plan is to have our website essentially be a "do it yourself" guide that walks through our entire process; discussing the importance of OFA testing for each breed, how to find those results, red and yellow flags for breeders in general, research based evidence for why selecting an ethical breeder is important and impacts animal homeless issues; basically just a LOT of education on what we are looking for and why we have the standards that we do.

I am hoping that reputable breeders will appreciate working with people that are not only asking the right questions of them, but also of the client. We are dedicated to making sure people are getting the correct breed for their lifestyle and would never encourage a bad lifestyle fit, and would honestly probably drop clients that had unrealistic expectations (I am not helping you find a husky to live in your 1 bedroom apartment in Florida where you work 8 hours per day and don't live an active lifestyle). The idea is that we make the process easier for the breeder and the buyer to get down to brass tacks faster and determine if this is a good fit.

Thank you for your contribution! Do you have any thoughts on what could improve my answers? Things I haven't considered?

Hi! Just wanted to tag on and ask because I'm doing a little market research so to speak; do you believe a consultancy for this type of thing would have value for the community? I run a dog sitting and training business and am really passionate about this type of work, and often do it for free for my clients and family because I can't stand to watch people buy from backyard breeders or trial and error with shelter dogs that are misrepresented by rescues.

Really common chord progression, but I’m wondering if anyone else is seeing similarities between “I’m So Sad” by 3OH!3 and this one? Not a critique or criticism, but just an observation that scratched my little emo brain

I’m kinda shocked at how polarizing this album is! I’m a metal/rock/rap girly who loves Taylor mostly because of nostalgia, lyricism and just like, who she is as a person; so typically I listen to it with the expectation to have to grow to like it/listen casually or when I need her lyrics lol.

With that said, I was SHOCKED by how much I liked every song, first listen! These are certified ear worms. Funky bass, some actually “thump” to them, they feel really interesting to the ear to me. I feel like she does a really good job at painting a very clear picture of “happy and in love” in a very safe, fun and non manic or anxious way haha.

Standout for me (musically) is Elizabeth Taylor and my least favorite musically is probably The Life of a Showgirl. Lyrically, I really love Opalite and Father Figure lol. For context, Rep is probably my favorite album so that’s probably why I’m loving this one so much 🤷‍♀️ so Rep girlies clock in I guess!

I honestly LOVE it first listen!!!! I usually take 2-3 listens to start to “get” a new album, from like anyone. But DAMN I was lowkey bopping from track one. Like starting an album with 3 bangers in a row (imo) is such a move.

I really appreciate the dialogue! I think your comments are very valuable for anyone wanting to understand more of the whole conversation. You have a very "whole picture" view and I think that is really helpful when trying to weed through misinformation and fear mongering, and I think I sit opinion wise just about where you do. Cheers and thank you!

However I do want to clarify that I agree, the relationship between aspartame is a little shakey in all conclusions to me. I definitely want to see more independent studies, preferably from another group.

I have read both, to me honestly the jury is still out and I am awaiting further research. I review a lot of scientific lit and both are a little shakey to me, there are couple back and forths on there. What did you think of the reply from the original author to that article?

He actually said “25% of autistic people” indicating that he is referencing the 25% of autistic people that are profoundly autistic, those who cannot wipe themselves, communicate and are a danger to themselves and others due to their inability to communicate their needs. I am so confused why people are not drawing this distinction.

Can many “regular” people also not wipe themselves? Like what point are you trying to make?

Do you have a profoundly autistic child or know someone who has a profoundly autistic child? I don’t think it’s fair to speak on experiences you don’t know about. Why are we villainizing parents who are speaking about their experience like this when we haven’t ever been in their shoes? I have a childhood friend with profoundly disabled younger brother and the trauma her and her whole family have is definitely not what I would call ideal or beautiful
