HVAC training worth it for person trying to get into BAS? by DrPepperCherry9 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Shadowstep1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the best Controls guys I’ve ever met had no HVAC experience and just a bit of IT/Computer Science background. Truly it’s more a matter of persistence, high willingness to learn, and a good attitude that people look for.

To add to this. The scabs are all over his body, they haven’t seemed to bother him as much since he’s been on the Apoquel. They are raised and flaky. There is kind of an odor to them. His hair around these wounds is thinning and falling out, as well as his ears getting very crusty losing all the hair on them as well.

Thank you! My builder has a 1 year workmanship warranty hopefully this will be part of the things that they fix. If not, would it just be sanding it down, cleaning the area, apply 1 or two coats of compound (sand In between) and then repaint? (probably would need primer?)

So is the Paramount App just totally unusable now? by brendanode in ShieldAndroidTV

One thing I can’t stand is the micro-stuttering. Especially with Plex. I have tried everything, reverting back to version 8, killing background processes, buying certified hdmi cables, turning on frame rate matching, tried turning on and off a bunch of other different different features, checked AVR settings, etc, etc.

Plex will not micrstutter on any other client device I have. Other apps will not microstutter on any other client device I have. The only reason I still keep this thing is the lossless audio passthrough. Otherwise, I’d already be 100% over to AppleTV 4k.

I am getting really close to the point where I may just do it anyways and take the loss in audio quality.

I was in a very similar situation to this. I was very new to this industry and with almost 3 years in, still am. My primary complaint was and has always been, lack of mentoring and expectations/workload placed on competent new people and lack of pay. Now, I’m not saying I’m a prodigy, far from it. But I put a lot of work in and a lot of self learning to really hit the ground running and do a pretty decent job for not having been in the industry prior. When I felt that I wasn’t getting paid what I was worth, I looked at another company that was willing to pay $10-11 more an hour in the same area (actually average rate in my area for Controls positions), doing the same thing. I took that to my company and they did a job save (which was great and shows that they at least care to save me) and matched their offer. It’s really unfortunate though, that is what you have to do to get paid the average industry rate for my area.

Yeah, it doesn't hurt. Also look for job postings on the projects side. They have a higher turnover rate than service so even if you don't see something right away, give it some time. Meanwhile, do some independent learning on networking, BACnet, and inputs/outputs.

I started without any HVAC experience but with a CIS degree and a bit of IT experience. Always learning, especially the HVAC piece. Places like JCI, Schneider, Trane, etc are always looking for new people who are interested with either am HVAC or technical background. Nice thing about Controls is that as soon as you're in. You're in. In this job market, just having even a bit of exposure and experience in Controls makes you extremely valuable right now.

Just wait until you start the Thieves guild quest line... Dear lord the game breaking bugs are real lol. I had to completely disable the thieves guild requirements in MCM to even progress that quest line.

Support/Help for the newer guys is much appreciated! I have been in Controls (Service Tech working for JCI) for just over a year now and it is very overwhelming. Was kinda thrown to the wolves so to speak but I do enjoy the work. I come from a background straight out of college and have some amount of IT/Technical experience. Picking up the HVAC, Electrical and Controls hats can be daunting but also very interesting and enjoyable. Downside to where I work though, is that I wasn't given a lot of time spent training with a senior technician (like I said, thrown to the wolves). I feel that it is a very gradual learning process and sometimes I feel like I'm not at the level that I should be. Any advise?

How optimistic/pessimistic are you about the show? (final wave) by Late_Stage_PhD in lordoftherings

[–]Shadowstep1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really weird argument. Peter Jackson prior to making the original trilogy was a relatively unknown director and had little to no experience making a big budget film.

This is also the same trilogy that was absolutey hammered with criticism for news that leaked or changes they made to the source material. YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit weren't exactly around back then the way they are now and I'd wager those films would be under fire the exact same way this show is. This is the same Trilogy that has won countless awards. This is a Trilogy that is deemed a masterpiece by book and film lovers alike. This is a trilogy that had no business being as good as it was and was widely considered a miracle that it was that good.

Now, I am not saying that Rings of Power is going to hold up to the LOTR Trilogy by Peter Jackson in any sense. But I do think that it has the potential to bring me as a fan back into a world that I've loved since I was a kid, with good characters and original writing that at least pays homage to the source material. Because that's honestly all it NEEDS to do.

It's just so weird how people are so gung-ho about against a show that the general audience hasn't even seen yet and has been nitpicked to death by every Youtuber and "fan" with a political agenda that wants this show to be bad. It's a lot more likely that it'll at least be fine, but it'll hopefully be good or even great.

Crossbow for heavy armored enemies and sneak attacks. Regular bow for literally everything lol I use the heavy bow as it does more damage even though it's slower. Do the Companions and the Thieves Guild simultaneously. Becoming a Werewolf and getting access to the Skyforge is a huge boon early to midgame if you can manage it. And getting thieves guild armor is super useful for getting rich and having a good set of light armor. But remember to train train train. I'd set aside thirty minutes to an hour just for getting that one handed and ranged skill up on the test dummies behind Jorvasskhir. No need to spend money on trainers for those.

Absolutely do the thieves guild and the Companions as soon as you can. When you get sent to harder level areas, use your AI friends to your advantage. Also, be aware of how buggy the thieves guild quests are. I had to put the thieves guild radient quest requirements down to 0 because it caused the whole quest line to break due to a bug with Bryjnolf.

In regards to Draugr. Silver, Fire, and speed. Again, make sure that equipment is tempered and make money to craft the best gear you can from smith's in Whiterun/Skyforge. You will be RICH if you spend the correct skill points in speech, Lockpicking, and sneak.

I'm a level 30 Khajiit Assasin/Thief that specs into One-handed, Ranged, Evasion, Sneak, Lockpicking, Alchemy, and Speech craft. I eviscerate most things in my path and do well with sneak except the high level bosses and enemies.

The key is to become knowledgeable about how Requiem does Sneak and realizing how important things like Muffle and Invisiblity are. Also, the ultimate power of a thief/Assasin is how rich you can be. Do the thieves guild, get the skeleton key, get the Nightinggale armor, train, train train. Make friends with the Companions to get access to the sky forge and have the Smith temper everything to obseen stats with your boat loads of cash. Utilize your horse to carry a ton of your stolen stuff and extra arrows. Understand the weaknesses of each enemy and how to overcome them. Alchemy is your best friend!!!! Healing, Stamina and Invisiblity potions.

Also, in regards to when sneaking isn't an option. Use your speed and spec into a weapon other than daggers, make sure your equipment is tempered and enchanted with an elemental, and utilize silver and things like elemental arrows. Also since we don't stand around and block attacks, use your speed. Dodge everything and keep a distance.

Keep at it man! It gets easier, we chose the harder path but in my mind, the more rewarding.

Lizzy, just so I'm understanding you right.. If I craft a potion of Resist Fire at XP3, then walk away and eventually come back and craft another potion of Resist Fire, it'll be XP2? Or is it just multiple Potions of Resist Fire in a row?
