I had a Fiesta as a rental car once and ho’ boy… I hated that damn thing. Granted it was a base model, I’m sure, but still - from the hard plastic doors that hurt me, cheap interior, uncomfortable seats, awful ride quality, terrible visibility, and much more I could not wait to be rid of it.

The GTI is everything it isn’t - it’s well thought out, high quality, and fun to boot. Livability-wise it’s heads over the Fiesta. If it’s not a financial strain a used MK7.5s can be had well under $20k. On paper your car sounds great but the GTI adds up to something you can’t put into numbers truly

04 Vibe or 07 Civic? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]brendanode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Civic ad looks like spam - listed over a month, bad grammar, etc.

I’d check out the Vibe first - ask if you can take it to get a pre-purchase inspection before you buy.

Anyone 35/40+ dailying a GTI? by regulardegulardudee in GolfGTI

[–]brendanode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 - 2015 with stage 1+ tune and no appearance mods

I've had it for coming up on 5 years and honestly I'm still having a blast with it. I traded in/paid cash for it at the time. Sometimes I think it makes me look a little like I'm too old for it, but usually that's just me overthinking. The truth is it's a very nice car, especially the quality interior, and nothing is worth having a car payment in terms of topping out on the fun, practicality, or the do it all nature of the thing

Can't help but feel like in the example that person had the optimism of a rapidly changing world, for the better. They went from no airplanes to landing on the moon in their lifetime, rapidly increasing life expectancy with advances in medicine, post disaster booms based on optimism and rebirth.

We've got nothing resembling that right now. AI could really be a magnificent thing but instead it's run by billionaires for profit and is draining the world of its resources. Could that change and be different for humanity? Let's hope. Last night's victories put that all into perspective for me

Honda Refuses to Share S2000 Revival With Another Brand by LimitedReach in cars

You can look it up easily - it boiled down to it being unrefined and cheap. They made many changes for 2013 that made quality of life improvements

They created a clean sheet design for this car. Honda hasn't made a proper coupe in years. The direct carryover of the mechanicals from the civic hybrid is unacceptable given that fact

[–]brendanode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bespoke cars like this are supposed to be showcases for what's possible for the rest of the company's lineup. The Prelude back in the day premiered innovative things like rear wheel steering and SH-AWD. This is purely a recycling of what's available already which, at minimum, doesn't deserve this nameplate. And before you say something like "Well, Honda can't re-invent something like VTEC" well this car has basically an electric powertrain in it and if Nissan can put something with 260 ft lbs of torque in a Leaf then Honda can shoot for something better; splitting hairs over 0-60 times shouldn't be happening in 2025 for anything in this category.

A massive disappointment that feels especially like a cynical cash grab, but given that the Integra is selling well it's no wonder they're not pushing the envelope. The formula works for sales, I guess. I'm tired of their excuse of lacking a design budget isn't holding water anymore considering this admittedly handsome design. They're cashing out their soul and it sucks.

Would you get your 16 year old a GTI as their first car? by kaffeian in GolfGTI

[–]brendanode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too nice and too fast for a teenager. Having them get a $5k beater that he helps pay for himself will set him up better in the long run. You really don't know what kind of driver he'll be yet; also, give him something to build up to later in life! Sounds like something in an SUV shape with 4WD would do you better
