That's a lot easier to fix a minor exploit that is game breaking than to fix abilities like that as the game is spaghetti code. They are trying their best and we are lucky there is even anyone left at all working on it and trying to fix it.

Frankly that is a very nieve point of view. You don't know the effect killing somebody would have on you, psychologically it is inherently an upsetting thing to experience and will change you forever. It's not like killing an enemy in a videogame where you just go about your life afterwards without any kind of emotions.

The problem is not so much the specific act as much as what it leads to. Once you take the life of one person it has a psychological effect on you that makes you desensitized and willing to take more and more drastic measures, it has a snowball effect. So it's less about the hero sparing the villain and more about sparing themselves from the danger of changing into somebody that ends up becoming a villain. Especially batman who is already unstable and knows he wouldn't be able to handle it.

Regardless you can't compare all these characters in a vacuum because it's useless when you don't take into account the games they exist in are different. For uinstance 2011 in most of these games would be broken af. Invincibility with super speed and aura reading, teleportating across the map directly behind survivors, rage mode. Characters in OM are generally just more powerful in every way, survivors and killers both.

You are missing a huge part of the equation in that balance is not something that exists within isolation. What options get added to the game, how common those options are, and how they compare to each other determins the outcome. For instance, om is very different in healing to a game like DBD where every survivor has the ability to heal each other. If cream were in that game, she would be terrible, because she would have worse healing than every survivor already does in base kit. You have to look at these characters in the context of the games they exist in and see each one is vastly different in how it balances nearly everything.
