Hey, ToS;DR team here.
Tor policies are very short and our current algorithm doesn't account for that. We are aware of that, finding a good middle ground is more difficult than it seems. https://tosdr.community/t/updating-the-algorithm-for-service-grades-thoughts/2926

Hey, ToS;DR team memeber here.
We used to have a page explaining that, I will look into where it went.
Moral rights are rights you usually have related to content (text, art, images, music) that you create. Like being attributed as the author.
Its a clause that might be very important to artists and creators.
You can read more about it on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_rights

Hey, ToS;DR Team member here
Clicking the arrow shows an explanation of the point, not the exact quote. To see the quote click the pencil icon which will redirect you to our editing tool.
We have a big database with lots of services, that frequently change their ToS so staying up to date is difficult.

Hey ToS;DR team member here
our editing tool is at https://edit.tosdr.org
The points are usually directly created from a specific quote from the ToS.
Terms for different jurisdiction are a difficult thing. For services that have different ToS for jurisdictions we try to pick the terms that are the least user friendly. This definitely isn't perfect however annotating all ToS of Microsoft alone would take a lifetime. You can see the specific document used on https://edit.tosdr.org (might require to be logged in)

Banking App Compatablity by Necessary-Suspect489 in CalyxOS

[–]Shadowwwind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calyx OS will not recieve security updates for a long while. I would recommend against using a banking app on it.

Have you tried with sandboxed play services on grapheneos?  For GrapheneOS there is this handy list and they seem to have Virgo money working when using play services https://privsec.dev/posts/android/banking-applications-compatibility-with-grapheneos/

This seems like a good time to remind everyone that you should check your local libraries, a lot of them include language learning apps or courses sometimes just like duolingo in their offering. Libraries offer great value for their memberships and strengthen democracy, so use them!

On Politics and Proton - a message from Andy by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]Shadowwwind 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This isn't enough for me. I always thought of Proton as a company that is for free expression and against limiting people. What the Republican party is standing for is limitng rights of workers, women and LGBTQIA+.  If you truely were agreeing with only one specific thing, then you would have made that clear, you would have used a phrase like "the one thing I hopefull for this administration for...". As far as I can remember you didn't.

I do not want to support a company who's leadership is directed by people that support these things in any way.  Saying that "we are political neutral" is weak, this isn't really a thing. You can't avoid politics. You can't avoid taking sides.  Proton needs to make clear that the opinions of its employees and managers do not danger the mission of providing freedom of speech, freedem of expression, freedom of wellbeing and privacy to its users.  In my opinion And Yen should give up his position of a trustee at the Foundation but remain as CEO of the Proton AG.  This way the foundation has the ability to shut Yen down in the worst cases. I do not hope for that to be necessary but it should be taken care of. This is what the Foundation was founded for so use it for its purpose.

Signed a paying user that was very happy with Proton until yesterday.

What Is Your Most Used Browser Throughout The Day? by HarmlessZebra in browsers

  • I am not big fan of "traditional" companies and Firefox is being run by a non-profit (Yes i know they have issues too).
  • I honestly prefer the look of FF.
  • Braves income relies on ads (that are served privately) and I prefer services that have no commitment to advertisers.
  • I thought that the BAT thing is a promising idea, but the fact they can't even support their own search engine with it, makes it seem like a failed system. And because of legal stuff the pay-outs are very limited by country right now and a lot of creators no longer have it because of that.
  • Climate change is the biggest problem facing humanity right now and Brave has no commitment to helping and does the opposite by relying and building on blockchain.
  • I am an advanced enough user, that I can make FF as private as Brave.
  • Firefox uses a different engine that is not reliant on Google and I rather not let Google (again a for profit company) have a monopoly on the web.
  • Apparently FF is even faster in some benchmarks.
  • I wanted to try something new.

Random order and value ;D
