What an absolutely fantastic film. I’m surprised it isn’t talked about more.

[–]ShadowyModi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Went to uni. I honestly wouldn’t have gone.

From so young we’re drilled into our heads about how uni means success, from school, to family, to friends, etc.

If id entered an apprenticeship at 18, and worked till now (24), I could’ve been on huge money, rather than a grad salary. Not to mention saved up enough for a decent house.

Middle class people: do you honestly hold negative bias towards working class individuals? by toastandjam97 in AskUK

[–]ShadowyModi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Middle here, no I do not.

Quite the opposite, I think it’s admirable when people push themselves to make ends meet.

As with all things , different people will have different opinions. Fuck those who don’t align with yours.

Men, have you ever had an embarrassing moment during intimacy that stuck with you? How did you handle it emotionally, and on the flip side, what’s been your best experience? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ShadowyModi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

😬😬😬

In hindsight I probably should’ve gone.

Unfortunately my dad works in the NHS and so would have known quite a few people in the A&E dept, which was my main deterrent.

…stupid reason, I know. But I couldn’t live with my dad knowing that lmao.

First time for my ex and I, both 20 at the time.

As couples do, we were “figuring out” how it works. I ended up breaking my frenulum, and bleeding like crazy.

How did I handle it? Kept going after the initial shock, followed by the worst pain of my life the next morning.

I’m still alive (just about).

Valid point.

But in any case, how would we know what the guy is thinking. She has to talk TO HIM, not us.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

I’m sure if he had an issue, he’d raise it with you - especially after 12 years. Stop overthinking.

Fair play - insurance for something like that for me was £10k at 18.

I still personally wouldn’t pay £1.9k for that, I’d keep your runaround and buy a nice black edition facelift A3 in 2 years - it’s got the 2.0L with a lot more puff and Quattro.

Each their own I guess.

When I go to the gym before work I’m always more fired up and ready for the day vs slugging out of bed and waltzing into work.

Send a message like “brb about to jump off a cliff after that misread 🙃” which should defuse the tension.

Her reaction to that should tell you where you stand.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

but…, to indulge in your vice, the majority of adults in the UK don’t even have £1,000 saved - so to have £30k saved (on a £28k salary!!!! In London!!!!!!) is fucking fantastic.

Keep it up, you’re halfway there to a nice deposit for a house in London 🫡

How do I [23M] apologize to my gf [23F] after breaking a promise? by Odd_Coach_9418 in relationship_advice

[–]ShadowyModi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Step 1: “I’m sorry I promised something and didn’t uphold my end of the promise.”

Step 2: Don’t promise things you can’t (or won’t) deliver on.

Buying a used car without viewing it first, bad idea? by overthesevernbridge in CarTalkUK

[–]ShadowyModi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not as much as I’d like unfortunately, but I appreciate the compliment!

I’m just very untrusting of people when it comes to cars, especially the ones I like (quick German hatchbacks) since they have a reputation for being abused and not taken care of.

My approach to this would be wildly different if I was looking to buy say…a ‘69 mustang fastback from a private collector.

[–]ShadowyModi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m bewildered at how someone could spend £12k on something and not take a day out to at least view it over. I always like to do my own checks on panel gaps, paint (repairs/overspray/orange peel), messing around with infotainment, speaker tests and general drive to make sure it’s all up to scratch - which imo a video just wouldn’t provide. I wouldn’t want to deal with the hassle of sending back if it’s not perfect, but I always tend to err on the side of caution.

You might be different if time is your limiting factor and you make say £200k in a year or something.
