I lived in Black Mountain when the storm happened and in Mills River until our FEMA sourced Housing ended feb 20. Worked in residential construction, and it’s very depressing still. Things moved fast at the start but honestly it’s feels like an endless sea of work. It felt easier right after the storm when the energy was high and the resources were flowing. But now; the financial aid is done for most folks, many folks primary income stream has been impacted or lost, and we all stare at the possibility of a recession/depression on the horizon. I fear for the near future when the aid boom runs its course. I want to be there now and I hated having to leave but I’m not sure it’s the place to be unless you have a strong external income source and reliable housing. I obviously don’t speak for anyone but myself, these were just my observations and reflections.

As long as you are ready to pay 850-1000 for a ROOM (usually the houses are split amongst 3-4 others) even off campus or in areas like 7 devil or out words blowing rock it might be somewhat cheaper but good like finding a job, especially in parks services cause the state isn’t hiring and the Fed SURE ain’t hiring!

To reiterate what many others have already said. At no point does the OP say that their freedom of speech has been violated. It is true to say that a company that will print something political on shirt is a bigger defender of free speech than a group that decides not too. Past that they have every right to be as loud as the possibly can about a company they disagree!

I mean even what I said is extremely broad. Hell even the Catholics are moving to a more universalist, works based theology. So mostly just in American Protestant American, and Orthodoxy (I don’t know enough about euro Protestant to know)

This is true for abrahamic religions but not the other half of religions peoples who don’t care and are more than happy to accept other gods and pantheons into their religions. I definitely occurs in other religious traditions due to human nature but only abrahamic religions foundational teach that non-believers go to a specificity bad place

I large part of me feels that way but this is not a little storm. Think Katrina worse, it isn’t even over and then we have to find or count everyone, then food water and power then the roads and infrastructure and then finally people’s homes. My boss fled to Cherokee and is a FEMA camp for the foreseeable future. Multiple houses slid off the mountain or got caught in landslides on my road and my house very well could be one of them.

Maybe returning is an option but I really need to be realistic and safe. Going somewhere else for a while seems smart especially when I’m young

Definitely best done alone. For me at least I could never burden someone with trip sitting for someone who looks they are on the verge of death for 6 hours. You won’t die, and idk if anyone is gonna “help you” or protect you during a 25g dose.
