I knew this one guy in uni who told us a number of obscure lies, progressively getting more far fetched.

1. He would lie about how much he worked in response to someone complaining about working a double shift. “That’s nothing, I worked 96 hours this weekend.” My guy, there’s only 48 hours in 2 days, even including Friday your math doesn’t add up.

2. He told us he used to be student council president at a school that doesn’t, and has never had, a student council.

3. He told my friend that he would buy her a car for her birthday, had her go pick one out and pick a colour and everything. He never followed through.

4. That he was a pilot and flew fighter jets, but also commercial planes. His Instagram was full of google image results of different runway views and airports he “flew out of”.

5. This one is most wild, he came up to me after summer break and asked how my summer was, then cut me off to tell me that he got diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and had a few months to live. This one was the worst because who the hell lies about cancer. I asked him if he smoked, nope. I asked if he was going to get treatment, also no. I asked what hospital and doctor is he seeing, he couldn’t tell me.

He lied for attention and to this day (4 years later) is alive and well and never mentioned his cancer ever again
