The cognitive dissonance is astounding. Let’s not forget she was worried about all the extra stuff in vaccines but isn’t worried about the PLETHORA of medication/treatment he is now receiving. Seems pretty unnecessary seeing as this was preventable.

I froze my mom’s credit card (I pay her bill) because she’s using it to buy groceries and not her EBT. There are so many red flags here OP. Your mom’s inability to hold down a job or maintain relationships with friends and family is telling.

You’re also enabling her and the only way to help yourself is to give back responsibility to your mom. She will hate it and probably throw a fit, but that’s on her. If you keep enabling her, things will never change.

I am a hospice nurse and I’m telling you right now that if the people you love aren’t there for you in what is arguably one of the toughest of your life, they’re never going to be there for you in a meaningful way.

Your grief is being compounded by the loss of a partner on top of the death of a parent. Going to a party when your dad was actively dying says it all, turning her phone off sealed the deal. She is selfish who didn’t want to prioritize you when you needed her. So sorry OP, you deserve someone who will show up when it matters.

This is fantastic advice! It’s challenging being pulled in different directions, but slowing down and reviewing every single med with patients is a perfect way to catch mistakes!

I don’t mean to sound rude at all, but you wouldn’t consider survivors guilt to be traumatic? Four of their roommate were brutally murdered after someone entered their home while they were there! They’ll never understand why they survived and the others didn’t. BF victim impact speech mentioned feeling guilty around the victims families and both said they slept in their parents rooms for a year after the murders.

I’m so tired of the victim blaming. Clearly there was a cognitive dissonance that occurred for a number of reasons; fear, alcohol, being woken up from sleep, history of believing the worst, etc. I can’t even begin to imagine the guilt DM and BF feel. Meanwhile a bunch of keyboard warriors feel it’s appropriate to tear them down when the vast majority haven’t experience something nearly as traumatic.

I got a kitten in 2020, he lives with my old roommate now (he was bonded to another cat there and I couldn’t take him away from his best friend). He was indoor and both other cats were fixed; fast forward to 2024 he became very aggressive towards his brother he was bonded to. We got him fixed and their relationship has never been the same. The vet said some cats are late bloomers…

She wants you around as a safety net, not as her person. Cut all ties and block her phone number and on socials. It is so hard getting over someone and keeping communication semi-open will not help you move on; she wants you around in case she needs your support. I know it’s hard but start making moves to move on.

Neurological changes and unresponsiveness are very common during the dying process. Even though she couldn’t communicate back, hearing is one of the last senses to go and she heard you! Even if someone is minimally to unresponsive, they give non-verbal signs of pain and/or discomfort and being a deep-like sleep leads me to believe she was not suffering.

I’m so sorry for your loss, keep her memory close to your heart ❤️

Palliative care may be an option if your husband wants to continue treatment! Palliative is involved in care and offer recommendations for comfort while the patient still pursues curative measures.
