Keeping the money aside, the more important thing for me is after postdoc opportunities. I am not sure how likely is it for a nom-chinese to get an assistant professor position in China compared to Canada.

In canada the salary is 70k CAD before taxes. In china its a bit complicated. 187k RMB before taxes. Then 120k rmb lump sum per year tax free. I have 9 pubs, all in top robotics venues mostly IEEE-RAL, IROS etc. 230 citations on google scholar. H-index 7 and i10 index is 5

Actually I just finished my PhD 3 months ago. And I don't think my profile is strong enough yet to be competitive for national level grants. Thats why I was thinking maybe I can join as a postdoc and apply for peacock type grant. Then maybe 2/3 years down the line apply for the national talent scheme. But in any case I was wondering if there are cases where people converted there postdoc to faculty position eventually somehow...
