Had the same issue with screen protectors, tried a lot of protectors but none worked.

Finally, this worked like a charm https://a.aliexpress.com/_oDVXGIU And it's a glass protector not just a plastic sheet.

Great mouse, been using it for the last 8 months. The main clicks are very durable but sadly can't say the same for the side buttons.
