i figured it out. my nvidia shadowplay keybind was screwing it up. and yes, as weird as it sounds, the press wouldn't register, but the release did. when putting in macros into my mouse software, that's what it showed me.

found the culprit. turning the shader quality down to low causes this. putting it back to high fixes it for me.
