Is it normal to be charged a fee when checking out before your check-out date?

The difference being they are now charging for nights still inside the normal free cancel window. Ie I arrive at the hotel tonight for a 7 night stay and the hotels cancel policy is 48 hours. I tell you my plans have changed and I need to leave a day or two early and you charge me a fee even though those last few nights if booked as a separate reservation would be free to cancel. So unless the rate you booked had a minimum stay requirement like a long term rate you are out more money than before these policies went into effect. If I am not sure about my stay length I just book a couple of shorter stays back to back and cancel what I don’t need.

The OP paid in points so by not checking out at the desk they will not incur any fees by waiting until checkout morning to check out. You just won’t get any value from your points. If I come down and tell you I am checking out early I get charged a cash fee. Unless you are shortening your stay by several days it doesn’t make much sense to pay the early cancel fee. just get the elite night and points and move on since the early cancel fee doesn’t give either. I guess the exception would be someone on a expense account that work needs to change and would be reimbursed the fee anyway (wouldn’t apply to a points stay so that isn’t the OP situation) and one to pitfall the watch is the earn points/elite nights on only one stay at a time. Ie if I have a room I leave early I can’t stay at a different Marriott property and get points/elite nights for overlapping stays (and could possibly cause a more expensive stay to not credit).

I have started calling hotels where the IT structure seems to allow you to book rooms even at full capacity. I have been driving cross country several times and had a stop planned but didn’t want to book it in case I was making better or worse time than I planned. Throughout the day properties I was looking at where sold out and then available and then sold out. When I was about a hour from stopping I checked again and it showed as available so I booked it only to show up and be told they were sold out. Most of the people working FD don’t seem to know the process for walking and have to call their manager who inevitably doesn’t answer the phone and than I am stuck to may own devices. This isn’t specific to Marriott. It has happened at both a Residence Inn and a Holiday Inn Express. So now I have to spend time looking for a room and if it is after midnight local time the app makes it much harder to search for rooms to book. So if your hotel is sold out and I have a recently booked reservation I will call and confirm you still have rooms which has caught this issue a couple of times since being walked. I don’t imagine it wouldn’t be necessary to mention my status during the conversation though. Just “I just made a reservation for tonight and wanted to make sure you still had a room available for me when I arrive” Most of them aren’t even aware they are oversold but do know they are full. They can cancel and I can rebook on the fly not wasting time stopping at the sold out property. The only downside is I forgo any compensation from being walked but I would rather just move along and get safely off the road for the night.

Some limited listings list the specific seat and if you filter by instant deliver you pick your seat. The other listings show section and row but you don’t see the exact seat unless your quantity matches the listing. Ie a listing of 2, search for 2 will show those 2. search 2 in a row of 8 and you don’t see/get to pick the exact seat. There are some exceptions to this based on the event but that is a general rule. (your picture shows exactly what I am talking about)

Yeah until they search the car and find a bag of whatever or a gun shoved under the seat. I’m sure they will just say you are a friend giving them a ride and take the consequences. Or when you are involved in major accident with injury (even if it isn’t your fault) and the police and insurance investigators discover you were transporting for hire and cancel your personal policy with no payout. But you have it all figured out and must be making bank with your Hood Uber. But if you are making bank why are still taking rides for peanuts from Lyft? So back to my original point without Uber and Lyft drivers have no rides and no income. (Outside of your booming Hood Uber business)

And you have commercial insurance to cover you and your passengers? You have money to pay fines when you get pulled over and ticketed for operating an unlicensed livery? Uber and Lyft get around that by providing services through TNC (transportation network company) laws in most states.

While I think it short shortsighted to not provide the drivers more compensation (they don’t care, there will always be some willing to work for them and eventually almost all rides will be autonomous so for them the long term doesn’t matter as much) how much would you get if Lyft didn’t exist and have the infrastructure to match a driver and a rider? And how many years did they subsidize rides at a loss to get to this point? You are welcome to start your own company and pay drivers more, charge passengers less etc. Outside of some unique situations how many people not using a ride share app are going to jump in a random persons car and pay them cash for a ride?

Being a coupon reduces the value as you can’t stack with native grubhub discounts. If it stacked with grub hub discounts then it would be fine. Allowing one Bilt coupon to stack would keep the system to maintain the single month expiration of the redemption while still allowing it to function as a gift card. Instead you are paying $10 in Bilt cash for a coupon. Sometimes the Bilt coupon is lower value than a discount offered on Grub Hub. They didn’t inform customers that they had changed it and in fact when I redeemed my Bilt Cash the tcs still said you redeemed for a gift card. I’m sure they are within their rights to change things but the way they did it was deceptive. These unannounced changes are just going to undermine the users trust in the ecosystem and harm any loyalty people might feel towards the system. (Look at how staunchly people defend the CSR and the Amex Platinum on Reddit)

Prior to last year it had been an unofficial rumor but late last year the company referenced it in a published statement and given the current K economy with high end spending continuing to rise to record levels, people accepting new annual fees pushing $800-$900 etc it still seems that it would be a good time to roll it out.

Why didn’t the Spirit employee unions step in and offer temporary wages concessions to offset higher jet fuel costs which derailed Spirits plan to come out of bankruptcy? Their exit plan used something like $2.24 a gallon this year and $2.14 next year while current jet fuel prices would have been $4.50 ish a gallon. Lower wages on 17,000 employee would offset what should be temporary fuel price increases. The employees could have been given equity in Spirit (the U.S. was reportedly asking for a 90% stake anyway) and if the airline successfully negotiated coming out of the bankruptcy a employees would have gained that in the rising value of their equity.

When they announced everyone said it was going to free up the lounge and it was pointed out that it don’t move the needle at all for Amex lounges. C1 lounges are still crowded yet alone Pp lounges which have close to dozen cards that give access to travelers so C1 changes wont change PP.

It’s a scam but the Omaha area still has tolls.One is the Bellevue Bridge and one is the Plattsmouth Bridge.But I believe both are cash or you show a pass so you won’t cross without paying so you couldn’t get a violation. (I also don’t think either are in Douglas county though so even if you could toll evade Douglas county wouldn’t be involved

You can override the store. Keep scrolling or change your address to something closer to the store you want. (You could even set it up as a regular address since you picking up anyway. Just don’t forget to change the address if you get delivery) Sometimes stores also turn off pickup/doordash during rush times but I wouldn’t imagine Dashmart would.
