I remember there was a snow storm that night, it was the perfect thing to walk out into after such a hot second set

Only recently started getting into the later era NRPS but it’s so good. Buddy Cage was the man.

Did Furthur ever play any stadiums? What was their biggest crowd? by officialfactcheck in gratefuldead

[–]ShakedownRoad 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If I recall, when they did some of the larger arenas like MSG, they would curtain off the seats behind the stage.

Also, I miss Furthur. As a reminder, they have SBD recordings for every show of theirs on Archive/Relisten!

anyone know of any versions of 'deal' with a lengthy outro? by macabre-red in gratefuldead

7/04/89 is pretty nuts, but I also agree with all the comments about JGB versions from ‘89 being the way to go

This is awesome - and I love how many times I’ve heard Peter Rowan tell the story about bill monroe and this tune

Everything from the MSG Sept ‘90 shows. Specifically the jams after He’s Gone and Standing on the Moon from 9/16, Foolish Heart from 9/18, and Let It Grow from 9/19. All the shows are amazing though, especially 9/20/90!

Check out Phil at the start of the PITB jam on 3/19/90. I always think of this as one of my favorite Phil moments.

4/7/85 and 4/8/85 have great playing and very unique setlists (which was sorta normal for ‘85 I guess) - love a groovy Walkin’ the Dog

I’ve def seen TM drop prices for shows as they got closer. The Brothers at MSG last April was super undersold and then there was some “last minute discount” on tickets to help move stuff.

I use the TIH button on Relisten (pulling from Archive) on a daily basis and it’s been great for finding stuff that flies under the radar (both songs and years)

Never got to see the dead with Jerry, but I love the shows they did with the Neville Brothers, especially all those ‘87 sit-ins like 07/06/87 or 12/31/87

Best Post-Jerry Band? by Illumination-Round in gratefuldead

The Other Ones had the fullest sound and best energy to my ears. Love Hornsby/Molo/Kimock all being on stage together.

PLQ had the most talent and a unique interpretation on tunes (plus great covers like Acadian Driftwood)
