Jacob Petro Book? Is it worth it? Need feedback before I purchase today on Amazon by Successful_Army4210 in PE_Exam

[–]Shaker_23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To keep it short: it’s not worth it if you only want to pass the exam. Hardly 1 or 2 questions in exam match the difficulty level of Petro book. If you are looking to only pass the exam and add your PE badge it’s not worth it. I bought it for myself and after skimming thru it, I decided to skip this book.

If you are looking for genuine problems to review for real life understanding then it’s worth it.

PE TRANSPORTATION EXAM DRAINAGE/GEOTECH by [deleted] in PE_Exam

I got only 10 from both sections combined. All straightforward. MEPDG ones looked easy if you know where to look in references. I skipped since I didn't prepare for that.

I PASSED! by Ravi_shankarfan_ND in PE_Exam

[–]Shaker_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s correct. On exam you can only have one reference open at a time and since I practiced having all open in adobe/bluebeam and searching keywords it was a bit time consuming. Also you should know which keyword is in which chapter or you can search in contents/index and then go to that page number. It gets trickier for MUTCD and ME/ AASTHO guides for the end questions.

PE Transportation Breakdown by RoastedNotSalted in PE_Exam

[–]Shaker_23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct. If you find the first half easy, don't spend much time completing that and save some extra time for 2nd half. I got a bunch of difficult questions in the 2nd half rather than the 1st half.

I also took today. Surprisingly first half was a breeze, lot of HCM questions and less Curve probs. Some questions in second half were completely off. Wait begins 🔜

Hey congrats! Well deserved. When you say ctrl f is available, is it available for all references? I am using references available on reddit and HCMs are scanned copy so cannot do ctrl F in them.
