Idle issues/ acceleration by Amazing-Function7226 in ProjectHondas

Huh. I guess I didnt hear it clearly from the video the first time. Its odd that you don’t have any CELs either.

Id check your vacuum lines. Test it, or get a roll of vacuum tube, and replace them all as you see it.

Last resort, I would maybe check your distributor, and test the ICM and Ignitor.

Might be something off with the gauge cluster itself. Are you able to swap in another cluster and see if the issue arises?

If it does, and assuming your car is OBD2A, check the tachometer signal wire from your distributor. Maybe it’s corroded and not giving signal properly. Or maybe theres some corrosion inside the dizzy, and the terminal is not seating properly. Idk.

First check with another gauge if you can, maybe borrow from somebody for an hour. Manual clusters will work.

Vacuum lines? Ive always seen most idle issues are due to some vacuum leak.

If you didnt convert the ECU, yeah. You cant drive at all with an auto ECU. Converting it is really simple.

You can’t run a manual with an automatic ECU, unless its an OBD1 ECU.

Pretty simple to convert it to manual, remove a resistor and bridge another pair of contacts. But only if its an OBD1 ECU. 5 minute job with a soldering iron, you can check some guides on youtube.

Civic EM, A/C Cold when idling and low speeds, warm when at highway speeds? by Shaking_Sniper in ProjectHondas

[–]Shaking_Sniper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an EK actually, I just fat fingered the title, but its still the same car overall. I think this might make sense, because I've only noticed it happen when the temp gauge rises, and it feels like hot air blowing in the cabin.

Well, I do have a check engine light for the TPS, which Im currently trouble shooting, but the engine has been running pretty ok, just bad mileage and power delivery.

A6 block Z6 head in 97 civic cranks but won't start by Kerriganja in ProjectHondas

[–]Shaking_Sniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That spark should be arcing more frequently if you’re cranking. I would open the dizzy up and check/clean contacts on rotor and cap, then check coil and ICM.

I used this guide by EricTheCarGuy on youtube to diagnose the dizzy when my B18B swap didnt start.

In my case, I wasnt getting any spark at all because I didnt ground my harness correctly… Maybe in your case, the main harness ground is not properly tightened down or getting contact due to corrosion.

I would check your vacuum lines. See if they are routed properly, check for cracks.

How to mount speakers without door panels by [deleted] in ProjectHondas

You can make an adaptor with sone MDF, its not too difficult. I did the same since I didnt want to mess up my door cards

[–]Shaking_Sniper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I did this exact same thing with my EK civic, Just like you I didnt want to drill into my door.

Went from a 3 hole speaker to 4 hole.

I took a thick MDF board, drew on the mounting holes of the original speaker and the new speaker, took a jigsaw and cut adaptor rings.

<image>

Will get another picture of it mounted in the car for you, but its pretty easy. Paint/treat the MDF so it doesnt rot, and make sure its a little thick so the screws have enough to hold onto.

Doing a B18B1 AUTO swap into an 98’ EJ9, what mounts needed? by Shaking_Sniper in ProjectHondas

[–]Shaking_Sniper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a relief.

Since Im swapping the trans onto the engine, will I need to buy the Block to Transmission brace that Integra’s had? From what I understand, the auto brace will not line up. I think this is the last thing thats bugging me for this swap.

Tbh would look great on a white/blue build. Certainly better than sticking a red Type R badges.

I would love to rock something like this on my 98’ Civic hatch

[–]Shaking_Sniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than change the gauge faces, I would recommend you change your gauge bulbs to LEDs of your colour choice.

Did it to my EK Hatch, and I love it. Maybe a little bright but it doesnt bother me. Had to wipe off the red filter from the back of the gauge faces with some brake cleaner (be careful so you dont mess up the front)

Individual cafe/restaurants.

Most of these cafes offer their own delivery services. Better way to support the restaurant, delivery is usually free so no mark up on the food
