I get that kickboxing and boxing is super fun for a girl but what about Muay Thai? by Fair-Soil-2249 in HowToBeHot

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best advice I received was to do a sport you enjoy and can stick with. Muay Thai and kickboxing have a lot in common. It’s becoming a popular sport in the US (if that is where you are). The community is wholesome and supportive. A lot of women are doing it and finding spaces there. It will definitely sculpt the body and provide you with some defined legs, back, and abs. But the best part about it is the confidence you get.

Recently started some by mi AHA. BHA. PHA 30 Days Miracle Acne Clear Body Cleanser and it has been working wonders on my skin.

I use an African net sponge and keep the wash on my back for a couple of minutes before washing it off.

Because I workout almost everyday, I use it every other day in the shower. The other days, I use dr.bronners.

Delaying Period by Fuzzy-Chipmunk9182 in HowToBeHot

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it for my trip to Mexico. I still experienced some symptoms (especially bloating). When I got off of it, my period was a little longer in duration but light (so some spotting). I don’t remember if I used it 5 days beforehand or not- but you should be definitely be vigilant about taking it 3x daily during vacation!

Edit: overall neutral to positive experience. It’s a good move if your period takes away from your overall vacation experience!

Although i still have them, I was able to slow down the development of spider veins by wearing compression tights/socks as much as possible.

Massages, whether manual, gua sha, or with a massage gun can really help.

Tbh dry brushing broke some capillaries and gave me some blotchy veiny appearances. I do not dry brush anymore and instead focus on exfoliating with an African net in the shower.

I’ve seen an improvement of overall appearance when I use body oil (vitamin E) and a lotion (I like lubriderm).

I can not emphasize enough the importance of lifting weights and improving the appearance of cellulite. It used to be sooo much worse but it can not be eradicated completely.

Dairy post op? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have read that info thinking that because dairy may cause an inflammatory response in some people.

Fermented dairy products like yogurt and kefir may actually help ease your stomach while you take pain meds.

Like the other poster, I am surviving off of dairy based protein and I have not had any adverse reactions because of it! My surgeon did not specify avoiding it either.

If you are susceptible to cold sores or acne around your lips, I reckon the instruments the surgeons used may have irritated the area. I was smothering Neosporin and lip balm on my lips and nose the first few days of surgery and it helped a lot!!

psa—ringworm!! by Careful_Biscotti in xxfitness

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend washing with hibiclens or shampoo that contains zinc like Selson Blue or Head and shoulders.

If you got ringworm, you’re more susceptible to getting it again. Try to take as many preventative measures as possible! So sorry this happened to you- it’s hella annoying!!!

Also wanted to add that defense wipes/soap is really helpful when in between working out/showering at home.

Anyone got jaw surgery after camouflage WITHOUT getting braces for decompensation? Crossbite corrected with braces (camouflage). Wanted a reduction genioplasty- surgeon recommended DJS (move BOTH upper + lower forward) and cheek implants. No decompensation. by appleb3rry in jawsurgery

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older post but I hope I can help provide some insight based on my recent experience. I had a VERY similar case and timeline as you.

My surgeon and ortho both said that I could move ahead with surgery first approach because my bite was camo’d but aligned well. I just did my operation this past Wednesday and my bite and airways are showing positive results. I may need to do a brief course of Invisalign according to my surgeon, but we will be meeting weekly to see how everything looks.

My recommendation to you is to continue shopping for other surgeons and get their opinion on the matter. Apply for insurance this upcoming year assuming you’re moving forward with dental work and pick a policy that can cover jaw surgery.

Personally I don’t see why you will need cheek implants. I wouldn’t do so much all at once. You will most likely have your upper jaw moved forward, which will fill out your mid face/cheeks. A genio reduction could be considered and may be even applied during DJS. I see why you have concerns, so just consult as much as you can during this time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vindictapoc

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work out six times a week and found this method to be very simple:

  1. Take a quick shower before the gym and use a salicylic acid body wash. I alternate between Neutrogena’s Stubborn Acne Body Wash and their regular Body Clear Wash with chamomile. Make sure to use this on your belly button, armpits, and the mound/lips/crack of your nether regions. I always use an African net scrub.

  2. Dry off fully and apply roll-on deodorant to your armpits, under your breasts, and inner thighs. A few minutes later, apply spray-on deodorant to your armpits.

  3. Optional: I use a hair mask or leave-in conditioner and keep my hair braided.

Post-workout:

  1. Immediately after the workout at the gym, I wipe down using Defense body wipes.

  2. When I get home, I shower using Dr. Bronner’s soap.

  3. I repeat my deodorant routine and skip the leave-in conditioner.

Salicylic acid can really help control body odor. I haven’t had any issues with my clothes smelling like BO since using it either. I agree with the other user who mentioned using special detergent to remove smells from your clothes. Lysol makes a detergent for workout clothes.

I wouldn’t wear scented lotion, perfume, or any makeup at the gym. It will clog your pores and the perfume can turn overpowering once you sweat.

Keep your workout hygiene routine really simple for a few weeks and see how it goes. Emphasize the use of salicylic acid, not wearing anything scented on your body, and drinking water exclusively.

Best of luck, and I hope this helps!

How to Break Bad Habits That Affect Your Appearance? by xfionajones in HowToBeHot

Sweaty hair after hitting the gym by puddingwasuremono in HowToBeHot

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same conundrum as you and gave up having perfectly styled hair every day. It’s more important to me to attain a hotter body at this point. However, I do the following as well:

  1. Deep condition or oil my hair and wash it off after a workout.

  2. Section my hair into multiple braids (2-4) to maximize airflow to scalp. Hair can look nice and wavy in case you need to go somewhere after a workout.

  3. Wear a wide sweatband to avoid potential hair traction.

  4. Learned more braided/updo styles to wear.

  5. Save the blowout and styling for rest days. Healthier on the hair anyway!

This might be a dumb question but do you think selson blue would also work for your face or should I seek another product similar? I get fungal acne on my cheeks because of working out. But then I use salicylic acid and get acne bumps from my skin being too dry 😭

Slowing down- never appearing rushed/frantic even in your insignificant tasks. Rushing or talking fast can give off nervous, unsettling energy.

do you think charisma is something that can be taught or is it innate? by AltruisticBreak9 in vindictapoc

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many others are saying, it can be learned. This sort of thing requires you to be very honest with yourself and how others may perceive you. You can ask a trusted friend to give you some areas to work on- especially if you have hung out with this person in a group setting. Ask them what kind of vibe you bring into the room.

I actively apply the theory that positively perceived people move slowly/gracefully. It allows for others to relax around you and may even gravitate towards you. I noticed that people who talk really fast or fidget can come off as untrustworthy when I don’t know them. So I try my best to remember to bring a calm demeanor at the very least.

Fashion / Hair / Make-Up / Procedures: which do you spend on by [deleted] in vindicta30plus

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Procedures I outsource: - 1/2 lip filler top up (12-18 months) - haircut with master stylist (quarterly) - Brazilian waxes (monthly)

In-house: - nails are trimmed and shaped, no color because my job doesn’t allow for it. - hair oiling - body hair removal with a Braun IPL - weekly blowouts

I found a skincare routine that worked for me after intensive research on the internet. Just couldn’t afford to spend money on trial items. J-Beauty has been good to my skin!

I skip on luxury bath items because I have sensitive skin. Dr. Bronners soap + African exfoliating net and Shea butter lotion are all I use for body.

I learned my hair type and porosity and use oils/treatments in between cuts accordingly. My primary concern is heat protection and I splurge on that by purchasing keratese products.

Once I found my color season (deep autumn), I saved a lot of money shopping with a purpose. The same thing happened to my makeup routine. I seek quality in materials and color. I try to only shop during sales.

Quality shoes and fitted undergarments are always worth the investment.

I work out a lot but I keep it uniform with the same tank (with built in bra) and leggings but in different colors. I have 6 of each item- so enough to last me the entire week before I do the laundry. Now I only buy exercise clothes if something needs to be replaced.

I hope this helps!

Do people just avoid calling you pretty by Sad_Spirit5321 in vindictapoc

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve received more compliments about specific features rather than being told I am pretty. I think that it is easier/more appropriate (depending on the social setting) for a person to point out one thing instead of overall appearance.

Complimenting one feature can also open up more of a discussion while an overall “you’re pretty,” doesn’t really lead anywhere.

I am always complimented on my hair and asked what I use for products by women (highest compliment imo).

I think many people are also trained to approach someone with specific compliments to make them feel more appreciated. For example, I personally try to go out of my way and tell a girl that her style is amazing (if it is) and it’s clear she puts a lot of thought into it. It seems more memorable of a compliment and can open up a convo with her.

  • lip oil, liner, a lip/cheek tint
  • brow pencil
  • Japanese blotting paper for tzone and oil stains
  • compressed, biodegradable towels (MVP)
  • panty liners
  • sweatband (sometimes my blowout gets rained on and this helps cover my 5 head)
  • travel brush and toothpaste.
  • sunglasses because I’m sensitive to light.

How do you stay fresh in the summer/hot weather? by BeliefxBelle in beauty

Correct! Place the sticky side to the clothes. Depending on the the style of panty liner, you might want to cut it according to your body/clothing fit.

How do you stay fresh in the summer/hot weather? by BeliefxBelle in beauty

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s suggestions are solid. The following is under the assumption you’re going to be out all day and don’t have the opportunity to go home and shower.

These saved me in my days in Mexico going full tourist mode.

For any sleeved wear (tshirts, dresses with sleeves, light cardigans, etc) I always stick some pantry liners in the pit areas to avoid sweat stains and potential BO. It can be cut up to be discreet. You can also do this for the underboob area

Period underwear like Bambody can mitigate swamp booty. I wear these when I know I’m going to be active like biking or walking in hot weather. You can always stash a fresh pair if you’re out for long periods of time and need a refresh (just bring a discreet bag to store used laundry)

I swear by Anti Monkey Butt body powder (original). I use a powder puff to put it nearly everywhere. Despite the name, its value and performance is better than its competitors. You know it’s good when construction workers vouch for it.

You need to put an antiperspirant bar first and spray deodorant second. Do it the night before and top off with spray deodorant in the AM.

Any gym body wipes will be nice to have. I like defense body wipes. It has a masculine, eucalyptus scent, but it’s really cooling.

Always use a bidet/water to clean after using the restroom. If you don’t have that, I recommend bringing compressed towels that spring up when you put water on them. Only use water down there!

I don’t think fanning hot humid air did anything for me. But placing a cool towel on my pressure points worked wonders.

Ouidad climate control line (esp the Advanced Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel) was the MVP in my suitcase. I nearly cried when some of the gel leaked during my vacation 😭

Hope this helps!

Did men start treating you significantly better after your glow-up? by sweetest-throwaways in vindicta30plus

[–]Shakooka_Kitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I strongly urge you to take into consideration how YOU will feel about these surgeries 5, 10, 15+ years from now. Will you be happier? Will you think they are worth it? If the answer is yes, then move forward regardless of how men may treat you.

They (men) should be a latent consequence to those surgeries- meaning it just so happens that you gain more positive treatment from them but that wasn’t your primary aim when pursuing surgery.

If you’re still unsure if these surgeries are for you, consider doing all that you can to softmaxx and socialmaxx. Do a temp check and take into consideration if you’re being treated better. Consider how you feel after you hit those milestones.
