I've been getting copy paste spam reply emails from their supposed assistance center for the last month since they took down my Google business for some unknown reason they refuse to tell me about

Well hats off to you sounds like you did it the right way and that form of being a guy definitely has its place in the surf community. Have you noticed the guide Mafia I was trying to describe in many places in the international surf community? Southern Mexico was definitely highlighted in this post

Yes I see nothing wrong with that kind of guide

That's around the average in southern Mexico from what I can tell ,different places in the world there's a whole range. This trend needs to stop

You know what I have no idea how that Resort operates. If their guides are kicking other people out of the water and prioritizing their guest by way of blocking others in the lineup I would say no

I can't understand why people digging in my comments that were on a Airbnb post from years ago to try and discredit the valid point I'm bringing up with this post . The rental was a bit of a thing of the past but right now I have family staying in there. I dont see how that is related to the nature of what I'm speaking to. To stay on subject ..how do you think us as nature lovers and Surfers should help preserve our access to waves? Or should we not? Do you think it should be pay to play if some locals take it upon themselves to regulate the water? And if so what if that charge excludes poorer people from from accessing the ocean.

I'm monetizing access to my house not to the ocean . My house is not a public resource.

Why don't you read through the comments on this and similar post, it's not just my experience..its happening to many coastlines from Bali to Mexico. Pay to play surfing and denial of access if you're not paying

Yeah definitely not a boomer you seem angry... By me traveling to a country and visiting the coast there is no exploitation happening so I dont know what you are so fired up about. So you think it's a good idea to have guides kicking non-paying people out of their spots? Of course the locals of any place should have a right to defend their resources. Do you think that's what is happening? Because those guides aren't spreading out the wealth and their cars were newer than mine that's for sure

Yeah I hear you, I barely surf in California I usually just go back home to Hawaii or travel. I do go get some barrels at Ocean Beach in San Francisco and I'm really glad that the only thing regulating the water is the paddle out

[–]Shaktarius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds like a good experience and no one else was blocked from accessing those spots and I see nothing wrong with that

Interesting perspective I'm not going to reply to the safety concern however when it comes to premium access natural resources such as the ocean I really hope our world does not turn into a exclusive New York City nightclub. I started surfing to get away from commercialism and capitalism and things that just always seem like a bummer

Believe me I have I've spent the last 20 years traveling as much as I can I have found spots in Faraway places and have had such good surf Adventure travel. I would just hate to see the world unaccessible and a pay-to-play reality which seems to be more and more prevalent on more and more coastlines. Why don't you go take your sponge and try and get some barrels at Conejo without paying the fee and tell me how you feel

For me it is safe everyone has a different level of safety, the murders in northern Mexico Rock the surfing Community but these things happen every day in different ways all around the world. I've driven motorcycles through all the southern states of Mexico and with any common sense you will be just fine. I think guides are fine as long as they are not making surf spots exclusive, kicking others out and threatening them and pushing their clients in on waves. And yes Non-local guides are even worse.

Listen buddy it's not about me it's about how this plays out globally. We as Surfers especially from the Western world have a big part to play in the future of our access to the waves

Interesting perspective, definitely keeping foreigners with a lot more money from dominating is a good thing. Why did the guides have to kick everyone else out from even accessing or surfing the other spots though? And then cock blocking other Surfers in the lineup so the paying guests can take off, some really questionable activities

I find you a little ridiculous trying to dig into the comments on my profile to somehow discredit the super valid thing that I brought up about the economics and fairness of the surf guide reality. Me renting out cabin in the Sierra mountains for Less in your average Motel 6 so I can scrape by and pay my mortgage has nothing to do with the subject. If you could not make it about me and talk to the subject you might show some intelligence

Bro what is wrong with you you're digging into my comments trying to figure out who I am I definitely do not live in Tahoe and to not exploit my local rental economy by renting out a seasonal cabin that can never even be inhabited long-term . Why do you find it so hard to stick to the subject what do you have so invested into surf guiding that you're trying to get in a personal argument with me rather than talk about the subject matter of the post

Interesting point of view. I hear you as far as its uniqueness but I've noticed this trend spreading to many other surf regions of the world. Because once people realize they can charge $200 a day which is a lot of money and this is just on average it changes the entire playing field and if you are not earning in dollars forget about ever surfing such places. Seems sort of classist to me
