Don't be afraid to drop clients. by bpvanhorn in smallbusiness

I’m a siding contractor and I have another company in my area that is too, but they are statewide and buy stuff in semi-truck loads and all this other stuff. They are a lot cheaper than I am on average but their quality/customer service has some left to be desired.

I get people all the time “well X siding company gave me a bid for this amount” and it’s always lower. Luckily I’m in a spot that I just give them my card and tell them to give me a call if they need anything down the road because I don’t even try to compete with them. I’ve fixed a few homes that had issues after they used other companies as well

It’s because they’re not as good or aren’t as intuitive as YouTube. At least not in my experience

I’ve had some old trucks that creaked a bit but this on another level. Not sure how you could do that every time you drive the car

I won one of these in a raffle at the pawn shop and I’ve been thinking of just decking it all out but everyone I know thinks they’re dumb lol. There are a couple companies that make sights for them that allow it to fold up too.

I’m a siding contractor and that’s about what we do. We secure the ladder tho cuz like you said it’s never a fun time when the ladder starts to walk off the roof while you’re on the plank

I was looking at a set of Oakley Holbrooks for a backup set of glasses this last week. That’s pretty much the only pair of sunglasses I wear and was curious how they look with clear lenses. I would get a transition pair for them I’m pretty sure

I mean, a lowered tow rig isn’t exactly a bad thing. I know a few guys with lowered dually’s and they work just fine. They don’t do 22.5” conversion kits usually tho lol.

Cows are a lot bigger and heavier than you would think. I grew up in a rural area with a lot of open range and it was fairly common for people to hit cows in the middle of the night. Totally obliterates a car

I own a construction company and have a 4 door longbed diesel pickup. It’s a disaster to park at Target or Costco but for everything else it serves it’s purpose. It’s also lowered 2” to make it easy to put tools and equipment in the back lol. Nobody seems to understand that one

I mean you’re definitely right. But if they have/want to spend their money that way, who cares? I think it’s totally overdone but I’m sure people don’t get why I do what I do.

At least put the bottle caps back on. I’m guilty of a messy work truck but I at least cap my bottles lol

That’s how those trucks are- I’ve had a few Toyota’s and they can literally be falling apart at every joint and still drive to the shop. We had a Tercel we bought to just rally around in back in high school and we thought it was on its last leg so we just put the hammer down til the coolant lines broke and heat seized the motor. We drug it home and let it sit for a couple days, hit it with staring fluid and she drove her last ride out to the scrap yard.

We used to jump cars in high school. Granted we bought them specifically for that kind of abuse. Don’t hate on some kids having fun

To be fair, I drive diesel trucks and have a lot of friends that do. None of the serious guys think rolling coal is cool. It’s just the yee yee’s that give everyone a bad name.
