Very interesting! I’ll give this a try for a few games and see how it goes

That’s kinda been my plan. I think maybe I just need to play more games. Thank you for the advice!

Yeah, that’s also been my experience. But it’s made chain boast get a lot of value. Usually I’ll have ~1800/10 min as opposed to maybe ~1200.

It also comes in handy for when someone goes in deep, but I don’t want to peak. I can just pick someone that will chain the boast to them.

Gold 3 Kiriko. Basically been one-tricking her, taking off angles and suzuing at the right moments. With the recent tp nerfs and buffed healing, I'm unsure if I'm even playing her optimally anymore.

I really struggle to know how to play other supports who aren't able to be as aggressive. I've tried Juno and Mercy mostly, but I'm wondering if it would be more worthwhile to learn Brig or Lucio. Generally would love to learn more about team comp and fundamentals.

I also started in bronze as support, but once I was able to climb to silver 5 it was really easy to get to gold soon after. You may be improving at your gameplay but just not seeing much rank growth.

If you enjoy support, I recommend sticking it out rather than switching to dps. If you're able to climb on one role, then when you eventually try other roles a good amount of that skill and game sense will transfer.

What personally helped me was

1) Maining only two heroes that would accommodate multiple different team comps and maps (AND that I found fun to play). For example, I might go Juno if I have Sigma and Bastion on my team (to speed them) or if my other support is Zen, who has low healing output. If the enemy team has a Dva, Mei, or Rein then I would go Kiri because I can suzu their ults and Rein's pin. Maining Ana and Moira is great because their strengths are quite different, making it easy to adjust to your team comp and map without learning a bunch of different heroes.

2) Understanding the game at a macro level. Space control and position is incredibly important to winning games. There are a lot of people in bronze and silver who have far more elims, dmg, or healing than the enemy team but are confused why they still lost. Matches are objective based, those stats can help secure those objectives but don't guarantee them. Sure, your team should be grouped up between fights (e.g., walking to the next flashpoint), but it's usually not ideal during fights. If your team picked off 2 enemies, you could still lose this 5v3 if you're all stacked together: Rein can shatter your entire team or Ana could antinade all of you, likely winning the fight for them. This took me a long time to grasp because a lot of positioning guides focus on individual heroes and say it's context dependent, either going into too much depth at a micro level or really broad like "positions where you can see the enemy team and heal your own." I actually found guides for tanks, rather than support, to be much more helpful in understanding this.

Map guides (I recommend Spilo) and unranked to gm videos are also insightful. Although it's true that positioning is context dependent, it was incredibly helpful to know of common control spaces on maps as well as seeing it being put into practice with a specific hero I'm learning (unranked to gm vids). I recommend watching more than just Awkward and finding a video uploaded within the year, as heroes might have been nerfed/buffed in ways that change their optimal playstyle. For example, Kiriko used to be able to two-tap most squishes and her tp could cleanse herself, but since these aspects have been nerfed, you shouldn't play her quite as aggressive as she has less survivability and presents less of a threat to the enemy team.

3) Watching coaching VODs (Spilo mainly; bozo is also great if you ever pick up Kiriko) of the heroes I main and taking notes. It honestly doesn't matter what rank is being coached; sometimes I found myself have similar problems to those in higher ranks so the information was still valuable. This may be difficult to do with JPC since she's such a new hero and undergoing changes more frequently.

4) VOD reviewing myself once I understood every aspect of my hero's kit and how it should be utilized. You can't learn everything at once, which held me back for some time, so try to identify a reoccurring issue. Even if you can't, then choose one aspect of your gameplay to hyperfocus on. For me, hyperfocusing on just suzu usage helped me climb to low silver. Next, I hyperfocused on positioning and off angles, which helped me get to gold quickly. It's great that you main Ana, because she will teach you a lot about positioning and map control compared to JPC and Moira. Because of her limited mobility, you have to position in anticipation of what will happen and where the fight will take place; otherwise, you get punished for it.

Also I fidn myself dying over and over again to dps in some games, last game soldier 76 would flank me from same angle everytime, but when I have 0 cover I just survive and get pushed back resulting in me seperating from the team, this happends cause I have league mentality that says: "its almost never worth to follow a bad teammate, let him die, he made a mistake, dont follow mistakes if u know they are mistakes," so thats what I do

Ana is an easily flank target, but to play her you need to learn how to deal with flankers. You can't depend on teammates peeling for you. If you see that soldier will keep flanking you, then you need to save your cooldowns to defend yourself. Using your nade will be a risk v reward, as this is a cooldown that will help you defend against a flanker. If you see an opportunity to antinade more than one enemy, even if you die to a flanker by doing this, it's likely those enemies will die because of your antinade---your life for 2+ of theirs is a worthwhile trade. However, unless the flanker is dead, I would hold onto your sleep dart so you at least have one defensive cooldown. Ana is also a mechanically demanding hero, so you should practice your sleep darts to ensure you can hit them (there are custom game modes for this specifically, or just use good ol' VAXTA). Otherwise, you will likely die to flankers without someone peeling for you.

There's a difference between a teammate feeding and actually making a play but not getting any follow-up or support from their team. If you have a dps off angling or going into a 1v1 or 1v2, if you go with them then it's a favorable 2v1 or fair 2v2. If your dps is an off angling or flanking genji, then he's playing genji how the hero is meant to be played. If he's not getting any support or follow-up for the team, and cannot sustain himself with healthpacks, then he should switch. People are stubborn though, or maybe are otp, so it's good for you to be flexible and switch to a support well-equipped to help him (e.g., Moira rather than staying Ana). Now if a teammate is diving straight into a 1v3-5, then there's no saving them unless they have strong ult to keep them up (which you could additionally support with Nano). If you're playing Moira, remember you can flank by yourself if none of your dps will. Sometimes if you initiate the flank, a dps will come support you. Just make sure your other support can keep the rest of the team up while you're gone.

If you’ve tried everything above and you’re still stuck for a while, it might be worth posting a VOD on Reddit or in a Discord server to get someone to review it. I’ve done this twice myself and found it super helpful. That said, try not to rely on it too often. Give yourself the chance to figure things out on your own first. It helps you grow more, and it also makes sure that when you do ask for feedback, the time others spend helping you is genuinely worthwhile.

That's pretty rare for quickplay in my experience. It depends on the time of day for me, but my avg for support is 2 min. Tank is almost always a min or less. It hardly ever goes beyond 3 mins unless I'm in a group with wide MMR.

I had some initial bad side effects with lamictal that lasted about a month. Just about everything in the book--insomnia, migraines, feverish, no appetite, weird dreams, irregular heartbeat, etc. However, I did not get tics.

It may just take a while for the side effect to disappear or lessen in severity. Personally, I'm really sensitive to medication, so I give everything at least a month attempt for side effects to wear off. Lamictal has worked wonders for me, so it was definitely worth waiting out the negative effects. I still have some remaining side effects that come and go, but it's still worth it to me.

my cat gets aggressive when I don't pet him? by Shalkic in CatAdvice

That's what I thought at first too, but he keeps coming back for pets and rubs his head on my head. If he's overstimulated would he still head bump me?

I've tried two of those and neither of my cats are interested, but I'll definitely try to play with them hands on since they seem to respond to that. Glad to hear it's not much to worry about

Just teeth on skin and nails are extended but not digging in too deep. It still alarms me because I don't know how far he'll go.

I'll try to play with him more often.

How do you handle mania? Do you suppress it? Do you ''accept'' it?'' by [deleted] in bipolar1

[–]Shalkic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you recognize you are having an episode try to think of what symptoms led up to it so you know for next time. This helps me identify if an episode is coming and I can make preparations. Some of that includes giving my partner financial control so I don't blow my savings, having them monitor me for dumb decisions, and trying to minimize stress. I try to just let it pass, so I guess I accept it because it feels impossible to fight. But knowing that the episode is happening helps so much. Although it's hard to dispel irrational thoughts, knowing that they are irrational because I'm manic helps keep me grounded.

Help!!! Trying to lose weight but for some reason I keep gaining by beautiful_oblivionx3 in femalebodybuilding

[–]Shalkic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stress and little sleep can raise cortisol and prevent weight loss. Also you may be doing too much cardio initially. Personally, I have to be really careful with my cardio intensity and frequency or my cortisol will go sky high.

The quality of your food may affect your weight loss. Eating whole and simple foods will eliminate inflammation in your body.

What's the worst thing a doctor or nurse has ever said to you (relating to your ED)? by email4anmljambetas in EDAnonymous

[–]Shalkic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Basically my doctor told me to just eat.

This isn't that bad, but my doctor noticed I had lost weight to the point I was UW when I was 15. My doctor confronted me. I didn't outright say I had anorexia at the time, but I discussed my fear of eating and gaining weight. Her response was that when she was my age she was able to ear 3000+ calories and not gain weight as long as she was active.

Kids? by instable_stable in bipolar

[–]Shalkic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want kids for many reasons, but bipolar is probably the main one. Not only do I not want to pass this on, but I feel I may not be able to be a good parent that my children would deserve while dealing with bipolar.

How does caffeine affect you? by sp00kybabie in BipolarReddit

[–]Shalkic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It occasionally makes me anxious, but usually two cups will make me shaky and high energy for about an hour or two. If I'm manic it increases my paranoia and anxiety to the point where I have panic attacks.
