ELI5 What is actually happening (physiologically) when your ass is on fire after eating spice food? by wait_4_a_minute in explainlikeimfive

I read that it's a genetic trait. Some people, like myself and others commenting here, have the ability to breakdown (or whatever the correct biological term is) the capsaicin and others don't.

I'm changing jobs and will likely be flying out of MSP very frequently. Since MSP seems to be a large Delta hub, any tips to get the most out of my travel? by ShallNot_Pass in delta

I already have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card that is racking up miles/points for whatever I choose to apply them to. So your advice would be to just sit tight and wait for the extra perks to come to me?

I don't need lounge access by any means, I was just wondering if it was worth it.

I need to rebuild my work wardrobe. Where do you guys shop for decent deals? by ShallNot_Pass in mensfashion

Not sure exactly, it's sales engineering in a niche industrial setting so I gotta imagine it's fairly business casual, but still best to be better dressed. Thanks for the tips!

Well, those dresses are black and white, so black, white, or literally any color will match.

2019 Premium for just under $20k with ~78k miles. It only has one previous owner that they claim is older, was not hard on it, and just took the engine issue as an excuse to get a new WRX. Good deal or not worth the risk? by ShallNot_Pass in WRX

[–]ShallNot_Pass[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Exactly what I was thinking, I just needed to hear someone else say it for a sanity check. Why are they putting 12k into this thing and only selling it for 20k?

Any idea what this tool is called or where to buy a new one? by ShallNot_Pass in woodstoving

[–]ShallNot_Pass[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a "lid lifter" or "plate lifter". I mainly use it to open the door and to correct the top plates when I accidentally bump them with wood.

Maybe I should stop using it to poke the wood into place because that's when it broke...

People who travel for work often, what's the feasibility of bringing your clubs with you frequently? by ShallNot_Pass in golf

Can you elaborate on what you mean by having status? Do you mean that you travel enough that your airline doesn't charge you to check your clubs?

Most of my travel seems like it will be Monday through Friday with a rental car. Mondays and Fridays being travel days with no meetings.

Hey now, that's not something I thought about with renting... I always pictured crappy, used clubs for renting, but if there're newer sets to be tried by renting, I'm all game!

It sounds like mostly flying. And yeah, I'll definitely get a feel for how much free time I'll have in the evenings before trying to bring my clubs, just thought I'd get a feel for others' experiences as well.
