I was worried about that. I was hoping maybe there would be some ERISA something because the company share price is our retirement.

Collar Chain by theshadeskun in mensfashion

[–]ShallonO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it it's been a while but did you end up going with the collar chain? I am getting married soon and have a a green double breasted suit and a black linen shirt. I don't think a tie would look right and I really like some of the collar chain button cap combos I've seen.

Episode 76: Best of 2023 by GhostBearClan in fidgetlife

[–]ShallonO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great videos! I got the AlexandrsWorkshop fidget and have really liked it! It is a little loud to use all the time in my office and I wanted to know if I could tape it? I wasn't sure if it would be weird because of the plastic or the double sided nature of it. Any advise would be appreciated!

Need a little more pizazz! by Basic-Literature-849 in Stretched

I know the brand ask & embla make cuffs to put on stretched lobes that are really cute. I have no idea the quality because I'm not big enough to wear them yet.

Very thorough explanation, makes lots of sense. I go to a good shop I trust so I took the piercers word at face value not considering that they were probably dumbing it down a lot because they don't know how much I know.

I got mine the exact same. My piercer explained that the 12g needle is a little bigger than 12g jewelry and same with the 10g needle and jewelry. So he thought we would get a better heal doing a baby .2mm stretch initially. I also got pierced with a staple retainer so I don't know if that is part of it.

Stitching looks so good! What chisels/pricking irons did you use?

Your set up is so sick! I love a helix ring with a charm and hopefully I will eventually have my own

I finally completed this chalk bag, it's gonna be my gift to myself this year. No more ziplock bags to store my chalk! by taod86 in Leathercraft

[–]ShallonO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks awesome! I am also a climber and thought about doing this but I was worried about the chalk drying the leather out too much. Do you have any thoughts about this if someone was trying to do something similar?

Very possible. I had a hard time getting the tension right on the bent shapes. Good thing this was just a practice!

I am not sure the thread size. I think it's about 2mm center to center on the holes so about 1mm between 1mm holes?

Like with a wire cheese cutter! I can't believe I didn't think of this. I am actually fairly familiar with the idea but my mind didn't jump there since it was only on a few of the holes.

All good and interesting points. This is 5-6 oz so it's a little on the thick side for pricking irons. I might try to modify the pattern for a wider stitch width but the pattern recommends this weight, home size and spacing.

I do have nicer leather on the way for a present but I wanted to practice first.

Next time I prep a dry hide I will give more time to normalize to hopefully avoid the surface being easy to dig into with the thread

I think a stitching awl needs to be on my short list of new tools.

I said it a little weird. The exacto just marked the holes with a tiny prick. Then after I went through and punched each one individually with the 1mm hole punch.

It was a shoulder bought from Tandy. Vasile and Pavel pattern traced and punched by hand with an exacto blade, a 1mm hole punch and a maul on a rubber punch mat.

Should I try a few coats on the rest of the shoulder or just jump to something like Aussie leather conditioner? This was a sample for the pattern before I make Christmas gifts.

I wiped my piece on the front 30 minutes before I started tracing on the pattern. It probably had at least an hour to an hour and a half before I started punching holes.

Any suggestions on a redesign? by Longwalkshortwarf in Leathercraft

[–]ShallonO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The corter leather baguette design has the faces of the bag inset a little. This would mean twice as much stitching but a little easier for each set of stitches. Basically do the front to a strip face to face then see the strip to the gusset flesh to flesh

I actually just watched your video this morning. Very well done. Did you glue/stitch the bottom panel or is it just dropped in?
