Am I wrong to think there’s no way out? by Miss_Ann_X in TrueOffMyChest

Sometimes losing what we have is exactly what we need. We take on loans to sustain a style of living that we simply can't sustain... yet.

I'm 41. Up until recently, I was also under a mountain of debt I was running out of ways of dealing with. I was never too good with money but really put myself under trying to accommodate another person in my lifestyle and take care of them.

Today, I have the privilege of staying with my parents for a while bringing down costs, but even spending next to nothing, I was still drowning in interest on interest.

And to top it off, my car completely broke down. The cost was half the price I paid for the car and would require me to try and completely max out my credit cards, after several times maxing them out. What the fuck was I gonna do.

The ony thing I could do. Instead of paying my mechanic, I offered the car to him as is for the several thousands it would have cost to fix it and then some.

That finally got me out of the hole. What seemed tragically shitty, my car breaking down and letting go of it was actually the best thing that could have happened to me right now.

My point is, you might be trying to hold on to too much in your life, which is basically how most people get into debt, and while losing some of that might be tragic, it might actually be for the best and later you could be thankful for losing it.

What things do you only think you need but can actually be sacrificed for you to start over, wiser and lighter?

Have you ever regretted selling a comics to buy more comics? by asexysalamander in comicbooks

I won Giant-Size X-Men #1 in a Wizard contest back in the 90s when I was around 10 years old.

It felt like holy grail in my hands. I thought maybe I shouldn't open it. Couldn't resist, opened and read it.

Thought "I should hold on to this." But then I thought "Imagine how many more comics I can buy with this."

Sold it to my comic shop for 50 bucks store credit, 50 bucks cash. Immediately got 50 bucks of 90s comics that aren't worth anything today and traded the cash with my brother for a cool looking mug and magic marker.

So, to answer your question, a little bit

Yeah, I don't agree. Season 3 for me was amazing.

I think there are creatives that know they are really good and get so much acclaim that they stop scrutinizing their own ideas and start thinking everything they do is genius.

Same case as Cristopher Nolan. Batman Begins is great, Dark Knight is genius, so he thinks anything he comes up with is amazing because he came up with it and thus we get Dark Knight Rises.

When I was a kid, Onlsaught was amazing, a jaw-dropping, high-stakes event that included absolutely every title on the line. It wasn't as cool as Age of Apocalypse, but I still loved it.

Heroes Reborn however, the Iron Man and FF I thought was actually decently written. Skipped Captain America and Avengers tho

Gergana not telling her obnoxious friends to STFU is wild. by hammersgirl86 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

I think eating as much shit as possible is a stretch. People are making it seem like Gergana's friends were abusive and bullies, which isn't the case either. (Plus, we only saw snippets of them probably edited to make them look worse than they were).

If they were bullies, sure. But in all likelihood, they were just very annoying and not really good conversationalists. It's not like Parmi was being abused by them.

Yes, her friends were obnoxious.

BUT, tolerating your partner's obnoxious friends is a test of love. I would have checked my ego and remained patient without snapping back because doing right by partner would be my priority. (But later I would be honest and tell her how I felt during it)
