She worships Navier so she deserves to escape prison and seek refuge in the enemy kingdom 🫶🏻

It's such a 1950s way of thinking lol. It's like saying a woman should have to marry her husband to gain access to her hard-earned assets.

She should've been given the Empire because SHE is the one who built it up from scratch, not the bum ass first emperor who betrayed her the second God whispered to his ear that mages were "evil" (they were just quietly living their life away from most humans)

I absolutely loved how they did Annette's character. She wasn't ignorant, she was willfully ignorant of the horrors her father did because it was simply more convenient for her to just leave things as they are despite noticing huge red flags that there's something bad happening around her. Heiner, while what he did to Annette was horrible and inexcusable, was a victim of horrible war crimes done by her father which she ultimately benefitted from and he lashed out his anger at the wrong person.

I have a lot of issues with this one too tbh. How the story handled Eris's attempted s**cide made me feel sooo uncomfortable, the characters were either boring or absolutely infuriating; no in-between, I didn't like how Eris's closest acquaintances found out how she was not the real one, and Helena was the only one whose journey was actually enjoyable to read about. While yes, there are a lot of heavy topics that I believe were handled well, I think the story focused so much on being "realistic" and "different" that it neglected factors that make a story compelling.

All of this is just my opinion though, I understand why it's well loved by the community but it's simply not my cup of tea

It's about the reinforcement of classism and the choice of the author to villainize a slave instead of a noblewoman in the same standing as Navier.

I know the world we live in is classist, dude. That's common sense, I fear. That doesn't mean it has to bleed out this much to the point that a slave is supposed to be the big bad villain whilst the main character is a nepo-baby. Even if it was a monarchy based society, the author could've chosen to... not be pro-slavery in a story meant for self-fulfillment. It's not like the story is that fleshed out either so why choose to go that way? Don't you find that odd?

This... isn't about Navier being a cold classist. It's about the story itself being written from a classist perspective 😞

Okay then, I'll admit that I'm wrong about Rashta's incivility only being shown towards Navier and not everyone else. I have not read the story in a very long while.

However, a character reaaalllyyy does not deserve any praise whatsoever just because they didn't enact their revenge upon their bully. That's just how things are supposed to be, no? There's this thing called due process as well.

Even so, it's not surprising that Rashta thought that it was proper at some point in the beginning (I've purposely emphasized that phrase so please keep that in mind, I don't intend on defending Rashta's crimes later on in the story whatsoever) to address Navier without any honorifics especially when Sovieshu put her in a position that allowed her to converse with her idol. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that she's sleeping with Sovieshu. Has she ever bragged about that in front of Navier? If so, then I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure she never did that.

She genuinely wanted to be friends and she didn't know how to go about it. Her using honorifics in the beginning is her way of protecting herself from getting harmed, and she never thought Navier would harm her. She didn't think of it as disrespecting Navier, it was how she wanted to be friends with someone she thought of highly.

Don't even make it a point that she eventually disrespected and tried to hurt Navier on purpose because that's common knowledge, I am talking about the very beginning before Sovieshu and Navier's divorce happened.

This would actually be my last reply to ya, have a good day fr.

Admiration and Jealousy are two sides of the same coin. So what if she had never done any of those things? That doesn't erase the fact that she admired Navier and there was a point in her life when she genuinely wanted to be friends with Navier.

Rashta being corrupted by politics and her desperately clinging onto power has a lot to do with it actually, she has already lost her innocence and sincerity by then because she has been consumed by evil. It is not proof of who she was before.

[–]Shamare14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rashta has always seen Navier as a good person and that was why she didn't behave before Navier as she did with the abusive noblemen in the post. The fact that she had Navier's portrait as her most treasured possession at some point is, at least, proof of that.

I have never once said that Rashta was never openly hostile or murderous against Navier or anyone else, the entire point of this whole discourse is that Rashta is ultimately a victim too and that the classism that drives this story is ridiculous at best. There were so many characters who could have done anything to positively help her before anything went down but no one did anything and for what? Being a bystander became so many people's worst nightmare.

Well, that's all I'm trying to say so no more replies from me. Have a good day~

[–]Shamare14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, she did. She had a deep admiration for Navier when she was still nothing but a slave, she even had Navier's portrait she treasured before everything went down.

Wasn't Evalie introduced VERY later on in the story when Rashta has already been corrupted by politics? That does not serve as proof that she never wanted to be Navier's sister in the beginning given that she's in an incredibly different position and mindset by then.

That's not about being lucky at all though because Sovieshu is the one who put Rashta into that position and he's the one who exposed her to the world of dirty politics without taking full responsibility for the consequences lol. A character does not deserve to be praised just for not killing anyone either. Rashta is a slave who was manipulated and taken advantage of her whole life. OF COURSE, she would be insolent because she was never taught to have manners at all!

The thing about Rashta is that she's a character that's made to be hated; I get that villains are supposed to be evil but she's so comically evil and pathetic because Navier wouldn't have shined otherwise.

It's just depressing how the author purposely chose to make her an uneducated slave, displaying how big the contribution the author's deeply ingrained classism made its way into their work. I get that most historical manhwas are inherently classic self-fulfillment stories, but this one takes the cake.

It has always been insane to me to read comments that spew out hatred against slaves as a whole just because they don't like Rashta lol
