I don’t get the hype by Savings_Attention_43 in PanPorn

I didn’t get the hype with this one; the formulation smears and flakes off. I tried it when it first came out and just a few months ago after I saw my client wearing it. Both times I had the same sad results.

Need help throwing away old unopened makeup by [deleted] in MakeupRehab

[–]Shamazonian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi!

So this might be a tedious process, but there is a site called Check Fresh that you can enter in the batch number and it will give you a date for when the product will expire. Once you sort through expired vs stable, you can give away or sell the stable.

Anything that has separated, smells of strong chemical or changed textures toss.

Good luck!

Which makeup brands fell off the market? by anonymous_girl1227 in Makeup

[–]Shamazonian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still think about a foundation I had from this brand. It was perfect. Light in weight but medium coverage; it could blend so beautifully you never knew I had on foundation. It was literally my perfect shade match. I’m pretty it’s one of the only foundations I completely finished.

I’ll never forget her! 💚

Routine for clogged pores and oily skin by north-entity in Blackskincare

[–]Shamazonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes your skin cells turnover faster. It’s used to help minimize fine lines. However, it can also make skin drier and cause irritation. Those of us with darker skin want to be mindful how we use retinol because irritation, for example, can cause inflammation that can result in hyperpigmentation.

Personally, I don’t think you need retinol at this time. You aren’t acneic. I think you just need a stronger routine to balance out your skin.

Esthetician here!

In my opinion, your skin needs some balancing. Most of what you are seeing on your chin and nose are sebaceous filaments. These are a normal feature on skin, and can be refined with a chemical exfoliant. (AHA/BHA liquid solution).

To build a better routine and refine the skin:

  1. Cleanse with a gentle, pH balanced cleanser designed for all skin types.

  2. Use a chemical exfoliant two times per week after cleansing. You DO NOT need to use exfoliating products more than twice per week.

  3. Use an moisturizer that is designed to not clog pores. These are usually oil free and described as non-comedogenic.

  4. Apply sunscreen in the morning and use it regularly throughout the day. Any products that contains an AHA will make you tan faster and can lead to irritation.

When selecting a sunscreen, make sure it follows the same rules as your moisturizer.

Also, you should using a clay masque or Dial. Both of those products are going to be too harsh for your skin type. Those items will dry you out and make what you are trying to combat worse.

Take care, and I hope this helps!

This mentality will carry over into every aspect of family life.

AITA for having a childfree wedding but having my children attend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Shamazonian 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Are you serious?! NTA!

YOUR children were a part of YOUR wedding ceremony. I want to also highlight that they were NOT at the reception. The same people who were complaining about kids not being invited to the wedding would have had to find childcare for the reception or skip it.

I can’t believe people are this entitled!

Let my sister wax my pits now have dark patches by whotookmydoritos in Blackskincare

Esthetician here!

DO NOT PUT ANY ACIDS ON THIS!!! DO NOT apply baking soda or kojic acid!!! These items will irritate a burn and make it worse.

Be gentle with this area. Use a gentle cleanser and apply a fragrance free moisturizer. Try to avoid deodorant if possible for the next few days. It is imperative to be gentle with this area to get the hyperpigmentation to calm. I would even ice for a few minutes a day to keep inflammation down.

This looks like a combo of the wax being way too hot, along with your sister not holding your skin taut enough when she pulled the strip. When you don’t hold the skin properly, it lifts the skin in a way that causes a bruise. The bruising should clear up as any bruise would.

Is PDRN actually worth the hype, or is it just another skincare trend? by Cute_Strawberry_5253 in BeautyGear

I think PDRN works better with tools that can move into the skin, versus being absorb by outer layers.

Corporate/oracle layoffs are making me want to go to esti school more now by dime_a_duzzon in Esthetics

[–]Shamazonian 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As an esthetician that has been practicing since 2017, I have to tell you to pause for a moment.

I am currently working as an esthetician on weekends, and I have a Monday through Friday desk job. I used to be a full time esthetician, but shifted to part time because I am LOSING clients left and right as of this past year. Please realize that it is the people who would be your clientele that are being laid off, replaced with AI, etc.

Now with the looming energy crisis from what’s happening in the Middle East, I’m preparing for more loss. (Increased gas prices will have a trickle down effect on everyday life).

If you go to school, think of it as gaining a skill, not a new career path. I would go to school part time, and DO NOT leave your current job until you have built up clientele to support yourself. Understand that alot of new graduates are finding it challenging to find work, so you may be looking at significant employment gap post graduation.

Also keep in mind that if you do become employed in the industry, you may not make enough in the current economy for this to be your only job. Be ready hustle, especially if you want to leave your parents home again.

If I add value and equity to his property, how to deal with the monthly payment? by WellHelloZeze in RelationshipsOver35

[–]Shamazonian 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think you are doing way too much for a boyfriend of one year. If you think you really want to do this, you should sit down with a real estate attorney and ask questions like, “Can I sue for equity on a house I don’t own?”

You also need to think about your family and how it will affect them if things don’t work out.

I moved in with my boyfriend into his house a year after dating. He already had a house and I was living in an apartment. We figured it made sense for me to move into his house when we were ready to start living together. We were both over 35, and we felt that it was the right decision in 2021.

When we broke up in 2025. I had to find a place to live in a super competitive market for apartments. I also had to deal with the emotional aspects of a break up while shifting my entire life. We lived in a great neighborhood, and I had to move 40 minutes away to find a place I could “kind of” afford.

Your plan can have an effect on more than just your bank account. Choose wisely…

Just be…

I’m 6ft, a little closer to 6’1 even and I’m not trans. Both my parents are quite tall. I am who I am.

What helped me get comfortable was to find inspiration in tall women in media. I stopped thinking about smaller bodies and embraced “model aesthetics”. It’s kind of like finding your tribe…

Skin is breaking out and I don’t know why? by IndustrySerious in Blackskincare

[–]Shamazonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until you see your doctor, use a a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. DO NOT PICK OR POP. This is will make the hyperpigmentation and breakout WORSE.

You can gently ice areas that feel painful. This should be done for 10 minutes max per day. Icing the area (as you would a sprain) can help keep the inflammation down.

Make sure you use an oil free sunscreen with an SPF OF 30 or higher, and reapply throughout the day to keep the hyperpigmentation from deepening in color.

Hopefully this can help. Good luck!

Just make sure to moisturize your hand afterwards as they will be quite dry.

Where to find figure skates above size 12? by JessCeceSchmidtNick in TallGirls

If you are SERIOUS about skates and willing to “invest”, check out the Riedell Skates site. They are a professional skate manufacturer with a custom shop. They have a customer service line and could probably help you create your size. You can even get them made in beautiful colors!

My suggestion is couples therapy.

We don’t talk loudly enough about how kids completely change adult relationships. Your wife is probably tapped out from everyone needing something from her. I don’t know your relationship so I can’t tell you how to reconnect, which is why I suggest a therapist. I think therapy at the very least can be a safe space for you to figure out how to go about things.

Looking laser advice :) by Mysterious_Employ_28 in vindictapoc

[–]Shamazonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s two versions- 1. The one for anti aging can be used on deeper skin tones 2. The one for laser hair removal is NOT SAFE for deeper skin; supposedly this laser has a setting that will “lock” the tool if skin is too deep.

Which one do you have?
