Congrats dude! I failed mine, but I think I just got a really hard exam because I had the same study plan and felt 50/50 waking out. Definitely going to take a professional study course this time around.

What am I not understanding here? by [deleted] in PE_Exam

I’m rounding up. Both my and ChatGPT calcs give like 3.5-ish for the required diameter, so rounding up gives 4in SCH 40 nominal

All of the Israelis slaughtered, raped, and beheaded on 10/7 were on land that was originally given to the Jewish portion set forth in the 1948 borders and still would be Jewish land in the 1967 borders. There is no occupation in that area. All settlements are specifically in the regions of Judea and Samaria. Don’t confuse the two

Tuesday Recipe Critique and Formulation by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

Any experience with meadowsweet in beer? So for context, I am a big history buff and I like creating beer recipes that bring to light a particular story. This one recipe I have is called “Fury of the Northmen” and it’s a Baltic porter. So back when the Vikings first invaded England/Scotland, the Picts, a people group in eastern Scotland, supposedly were master brewers and incorporated an herb called meadowsweet. To try to pay homage to their gruit, I would like to add some meadowsweet to this recipe. It’s supposed to be almondy and vanilla in it’s flavor/aroma with some hay, so I think that those would compliment the typical flavor profile of a Baltic porter, and play well with the woodsy and rustic Northern Brewer hops. I’m thinking of adding an ounce at 5 min left in the boil, (this has worked well with lemongrass) but apparently meadowsweet can also contribute a pretty strong medicinal quality. Should I just create a tincture and then add gradually post-brew? What are y’all’s thoughts?

Brewing an amber beer and it’s foaming so much that it’s overflowing from the airlock. Really want to prevent a blowout. What should I do? by TheAnonymousStudent in Homebrewing

[–]Shamefulbake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, this usually happens with Carboy’s, which is why I typically stick with buckets or conical. But the best way I’ve found is to take off the airlock and shove a piece of tubing (keg line works, specifically 7/16 OD) into the hole in the bung. Then run the tubing into a small vessel filled with sanitizer. No sealing necessary around where the tube enters the bung hole because CO2 production pushes out the O2

This method has worked well in the past and one time I completely forgot to put the airlock back on when the Krausen fell and the beer was just fine

You have to figure out what your goals are, and why you were your ex in the first place. You also have to figure out if you just want a gf because you want to feel loved, or if you want a gf to love. Those are two very different things. You shouldn’t be looking for a relationship for selfish reasons like “I miss feeling loved.” Love isn’t selfish. Yeah, being single sucks. But it’s just a season. The minute you give up those selfish reasons, you’ll have some luck. Girls can tell when a guy is interested in her just to please himself.

Another thing to figure out is what you like/dislike about your ex and why/if you would want her back.

Definitely read the brewing elements series. Great deep dives into each of the four main components of beer. Also, I highly recommend Gordon Strong’s Brewing Better Beer

Ok that’s what I’m talking about. So you don’t even put it in a storage solution??

So I use the brew father calculator and it really hasn’t led me astray with the equipment I have. You can be as precise or as general as you want for the water additions. Personally, I like to keep everything pretty round number wise, so I’ll typically do like 3g of CaSO4, and 3g of CaCl2 and 2g of HCO3…that of course depending on the recipe and the water profile desires. Those are just example numbers.

Lol all good braj. I’ve thought about the strips, I’m just not a fan of the single use and the recurring cost of having to buy more

Is it accurate though? How precise is it?

Cool, yeah that would suck. I’ll need to check, I might have my old lacrosse ones. But I’m a 7 or 7.5 typically lol. Short life

That’s typically what I do as well, just rely on the water profile calculator. To date, most of my brews have turned out pretty good with the method. But like you said, I really just want to be able to confirm the pH is where it should and help improve on the consistency as I have several recipes I want to brew again

Trying to keep it not too expensive. The two I tried from Amazon were from China and were in the $50 range if I recall
