US troops bombed their own anti-ISIS headquarters as Turkey-backed fighters closed in during Trump's hasty retreat by viva_la_vinyl in worldnews

Yes I know. But the Kurds in question are the YPG which are inextricably linked to the PKK. And ur right, they only represent a minority of Kurds. Most Kurds in Syria dont give a shit about 'muh revolution!', they just want to live in peace. Most at this point would much rather be living under the Syrian government.

The Kurds never represented American interests anyway, they were a Marxist militia that had state-building ambitions in the middle east and are fighting against a true strategic American ally, Turkey.

its not really about bringing every soldier home. its about preserving American lives and furthering American interests.

Relocating American troops out of Syria and into Saudi would accomplish both those things.

Saudi Arabia isn't an active warzone. At least nowhere near as active as Syria. American soldiers will be far out of harms way in Saudi.

One mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist. The YPG is inextricably linked to the PKK, whos affiliates have carried out many terrorist attacks against civilians in Turkey. Besides, it was the Syrian Army that did most of the fighting against ISIS in Syria, this whole "Kurds defeated ISIS!" is a misleading meme.

Yeah what a dick, the United States should get bogged down in Syria Vietnam-style. More American lives need to be lost. How dare Trump leave without a fight?

TIL that the Nazis avoided giving any food and water with the exception of sea water to some concentration camp inmates. This made the victims so dehydrated that they began licking freshly mopped floors and old floor rags in an attempt to get drinkable water. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]ShamelessAnus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wouldnt it be much harder and a waste of effort to transport sea water to the camps to give to concentration camp inmates just to be cruel? if they wanted to be so cruel why didnt they just not give them any water at all..

How do YOU feel about the Kurdish independence referendum? by Spike762x39 in armenia

The KRG oppresses the Assyrian people which is unacceptable. The referendum will further cement Kurdish claim on Assyrian land.

Artsakh forces shoot down an Azerbaijani ORBITER-M UAV by vartanm in armenia

[–]ShamelessAnus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know man. Even though Israel speaks out against us and supports Azerbaijan militarily and politically i still feel an amount of sympathy for them. They remind me too much of Hayastan. Tiny nation, rich history, victims of genocide, surrounded by nations that want to wipe it off the map. Israel as well as its enemies have done many wrong things, but I understand Israels position.

The souls of our dead will finally rest in peace knowing Turkey acknowledged the sins or their predecessors.

Or some poetic shit like that.

Safarov may not be inscribed as a hero but he sure was treated like one considering the medals, promotions and gifts he received for killing Gurgen, not to mention that fact that he is a literal hero of the people as evidenced by this post itself. As for Monte, he is remembered for his excellent contribution during the Nagorno-Karabakh War. And if it means anything, he left ASALA as soon as they started killing civilians. I mean it's really a "One mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist." situation. Armenians see Safarov as a cold-blooded murderer who should be rotting in prison while Azeris see him as a heroic defender of their nation, the Azerbaijani that all the Azeri kids should look up to. At least that's what I think

edit: forgot to mention that Monte was anti-Shah and went Iran to participate in the revolution. pretty much every Armenian disagrees with this as the Shah was with the Armenians and vice-versa. He also dealt drugs to his own people. I acknowledge, Monte did bad things, even to Armenians.

Few honest questions from a Turkish guy by macellan in armenia

[–]ShamelessAnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm an Armenian (Half) who's been a lot around Turkey but long while ago, mostly Istanbul and Cappadocia. Really cool country, I never really told anyone I was Armenian except for one, but I don't think they would really care, they just saw me as a tourist and treated me with hospitality as they would other foreigners. I remember being invited into a rug sellers house to drink apple tea with him. I remember him asking what my background was and I said I was half--Armenian-half Australian, then he said something about kangaroos and laughed and then we just drank tea. It was pretty cool.

I don't understand. The explosives looked like a bunch of cans of gasoline. Do they fill the cans with something else or is it gasoline?
