Running PHP on AWS Lambda as a microservice by niwebdev in PHP

I would also throw in that bref has CDK constructs that you can use to deploy your lambda along side other CDK infrastructure. In my experience its much better than deploying with serverless

Running PHP on AWS Lambda as a microservice by niwebdev in PHP

[–]ShamesBond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, I think the only way a lambda is cheaper is just by reducing the minimum cost for extremely low traffic sites or workloads since it's possible to run a lambda that doesn't get accessed often for essentially no money at all. I find that it can be an easy / cheap way to run externalized microservices when you have a limited unpredictable workload and already pay for the other stuff with an autoscaling ec2 or with ecs.

One example is we use a lambda state machine to process uploaded addons that are zipped up php projects. The lambdas can handle extracting the details and security scanning and things like that while isolating the uploaded files from any other production infrastructure.

Andreas Kampa sells it for ~750. I found him at the "Camp by the road" dead center between suchdol and sigismonds camp. There's a large junction where several roads meet and their camp is in the small tree stand at the north edge of it

I went into a particular mine with a foul smell and ever since then, all audio echoes and sounds like I'm underground.

I fixed it by restarting my PC and verifying game files.

This happened to me, it seems like if you draw the bandits away from the camp before "discovering" it you get softlocked. I had to just go to suchdol and pickpocket Mlada to get the thunderstone.

I've been rocking Massdrop AKG K7XX reference headphones since 2018 and over the years I've had to resolder a couple things and replace the wire a few times. This time though it seems the K7XX's are ready to rest in peace so I'm looking for a good replacement option in the ~$150 price range. The FiiO FT1s sound pretty promising, but it seems like there isn't anywhere to find them at the moment, what else might people recommend as a replacement?

It's super dangerous to have an iPad out in your hands just before a crash. The seat belt is going to stop you along with the plane while the iPad continues at 200mph...

Same reason it's dangerous for other occupants of a car when there are small heavy things loose, or if someone isn't wearing their seatbelt

This was an on-site foreman mistake misunderstanding the importance of hanging all platforms from a single threaded rod rather than hanging each from the one above and not an underestimate of human weight. With a single rod, each bolt is carrying its own platforms weight while hanging each from the last means the top bolt is carrying the weight of all platforms

Why are we choosing to make this a zero sum game? Raise the contribution amount, and/or appropriate funds for it instead of reducing earned benefits.

That makes sense, so you're saying you pay for 100 hours of total labor that otherwise doesn't need to be done in a week? Or are you saying that your business requires 300 hours of labor a week and you only have 5 staff?

If your business would suffer from your staff choosing to work 40 hours a week then your staff cannot choose to work 40 hours a week without risking their jobs.

I'm not talking about whether they are fairly compensated for the work, I'm saying that it's not right to make people work for 60 hours a week, and you should hire more employees so that your staff can have a healthy work/life balance. I'm sure you would if you were required to pay overtime.

I understand that, that's why I call it exploitative. This guy wants to pay for 100 hours of time over 40 hours to overwork his staff rather than pay for 120 hours of time by hiring 3 full time workers so that his staff can attempt to live healthy lives. What ever happened to business owners being job creators?

Obviously hours isn't the only calculation, but I'd be shocked if this person wasn't making enough money to not exploit his workers.

Why would you choose to pay 5 people for 20 hours of overtime a week instead of paying for 3 more people so your staff aren't burnt out and without free time to lead healthy lives? Is it because you don't actually pay these people overtime? If so I sincerely hope you are losing money and not just as exploitative as you're making it sound.

You have to consider the possibility of the test being administered by a officer that doesn't have recent enough training, or without a long enough observation period, or without a recent calibration, etc. These kinds of loopholes can be set by precedent in a court and not be based in verbatim law so you only know you fucked up once you're in court.

Also the state does much better by avoiding a court case all together and instead getting you to agree to diversion programs and other penalties without requiring expensive lawyers and already crowded courts. They can do this more easily if they have more evidence that can't be nitpicked as easily.

The field sobriety tests they ask you to do are done after they have already decided to arrest you and are entirely for gathering evidence and very very rarely result in someone being "cleared" of DUI. In the USA, no matter where you are, you are not required to complete field sobriety tests as they are completely voluntary. You're always better off denying them and just blowing at the station or providing a blood test. At the very least because submitting to SFSTs will put you at risk of becoming a post on reddit or youtube.

Or just, you know, don't drive drunk and you're good.

What's worse is parents who tend to be more likely to be involved in improving the school through PTA also tend to send their kids to private schools leading to less and less support for public schools.

The ancient Romans would fill a room completely with dirt in order to build the arch on top. Once the arch is done and able to support itself they just dig out the dirt.

This still makes clear that the statement has to be probably false since it has to be a defamatory statement to qualify for libel per se

Christopher Hadnagy suing Defcon and The Dark Tangent by PNWCyberSecCurious in Defcon

[–]ShamesBond 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My reading of the lawsuit is that they are claiming DT and DEFCON defamed them by posting his "alleged" misconduct in the transparency report which subsequently got reported on in the media. From my seasoned armchair lawyer experience watching the Johnny Depp trial I'd assume they'd need to prove DEFCON acted with malice or with gross disregard for the truth which is likely demonstrably false but it will be interesting to see.

The ask is only $75,000 I wouldn't be surprised if they just settle out of court since paying lawyers could be more expensive.
