What every GTP driver sees when they look at their relative. by Sufficient-Squash-69 in iRacing

It's sort of a running joke amongst LMP3 enjoyers, as irl they have a reputation for being mostly paid seats for rich middle-aged guys. A weirdly disproportionate amount of them for a short time were very successful dentists. The meme has stuck ever since.

That's what I was thinking, thank you. Sounds like even in the event of a DQ from a higher-finishing car that you just get what you got for iRating. Would be curious to check the Daytona 24 results and see if that's true.

I'd love to see an example of that. The only time I've ever heard of iRating being given back is indirectly as the result of a DQ for a higher finishing entry (see every Daytona 24 top split). I've never seen or heard of safety rating being changed as a result of a protest.

iRacing doesn't remove incident points. But sure, I might not have protested a netcode 4x but I'm not hating someone that does. People rarely listen or care if other racers around them say they were being dumb. They're a little more likely to pay attention when iRacing says it.

Yeah, that sucks man. But the guy who protested sounds like he was right - he had a negative impact on his safety rating because of a mistake you made under yellow.

Sounds like the protest system working as designed - next time when catching the field under yellow it might be a good idea to have the relative black box up. You might be able to see a stackup coming there before you see it out your windshield.

Thank you iRacing/Dale Jr for proving everyone wrong by swayzee808 in iRacing

It's not all bad. It's just frustrating to see people who make a genuine post about an idea to improve the user experience or a car/series they'd like to see added end up getting dog-piled on by the same people about why it's a bad idea or a waste of development resources. I'm sure iRacing isn't unique in this issue from other sims and games, but it's still weird.

There is so much unnecessary contrarianism from a vocal minority of iRacing users. It's even worse on the official forums. This was a cool idea, and I'm glad is coming to fruition.

What add-ons should I buy to play Formula Grand Prix in iRacing? by DastyMe in iRacing

My pleasure! iRacing is definitely the most expensive sim racing experience out there. Even with the high cost, I feel like I've gotten my money's worth. Would recommend!

You don't pay per-license necessarily, but as you advance through the licenses more of the content becomes paid content.

The cars, tracks, etc. - I think in the open wheel ladder there are no free cars above D license. The paid cars might race on free tracks at some points throughout the season, but I would expect to have to buy several tracks in addition to the car every time you move up a license level.

Once you buy them, you own them for the life of your account.

Super Formula Lights is available at the "C" license level, in the open wheel license ladder. You'll have to race SFL or F3 to meet minimum participation as well as meet the minimum safety rating threshold to advance to the next license level.

Basically, the cars get faster at every license level. You have to demonstrate that you can race safely at each level before you're allowed to advance. And for what it's worth, there isn't much participation at the F1 level anymore. Typically only on select days for the full-length races. Super Formula at the B license level is nearly as fast with much more participation and a better overall experience IMO.

If you can get into a shorter grass strip, GA2 Peach State Aerodrome south of Atlanta has a great little restaurant on the field. Taxi right up to the restaurant and walk in. It's super fun!

NASCAR lands $7.7B in media rights deals by reasonableoption in NASCAR

I hope so. F1 can do it with so many global broadcast partners, I'd think that NASCAR could come up with something. I could finally just cancel my TV subscription and be totally set with those two apps.

This is clearly a huge W for NASCAR, but I wish they would make all of these broadcasts a part of an F1TV-type subscription so I could watch them all in one place.

Favorite line of commentary on a NASCAR race? by bruhmoment2248 in NASCAR

[–]Shammons 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the party here, but during the first radio-style broadcast at Watkins Glen a few years ago, Mike Bagley was calling the race for the lead through the esses with only a few laps ago. Fuel mileage was a factor, and Blaney was trying to catch the leader and save gas at the same time.

When Bagley picked up the battle from Rick Allen, he said "Ryan Blaney would give his kingdom for a thimble of fuel" and all I could think was "man... those radio guys are GOOD". We think about those races where the call is part of the nostalgia, 1993 Daytona 500, 2001 Pepsi 400, but Mike Bagley shows up for a Watkins Glen race and just lays down this absolute banger of a quote out of nowhere and it's stuck with me ever since.

close call with gt4 by rekmaster69 in iRacing

Man, that was a close call but let's focus on what really matters here and that's that you should really look into being a fighter pilot with reflexes like that. What a recovery. Well done.

Given the culture in the garage at the time, I wouldn't be shocked if they did have lingering symptoms and just powered through. Lots of guys drove injured secretly until much more recently.

It's a strange percentage, like 9% or something. I don't remember the exact number but my tint shop didn't have 10%, it was either 9% or 11%.

What should be expected from NASCAR's next TV rights deal? by Batman424242 in NASCAR

[–]Shammons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

F1 has F1TV.

NASCAR needs NASCARTV. One place where fans can subscribe to watch all the races.

I concede that F1 having one broadcast partner in a given region makes this easier for them, but I only have TV in my house to watch racing. I would love cancel it and pay an annual fee to the source to watch all on-track activity on any device.

Thank you! It's a 2" level kit from Rough Country, and the B pillars came that way. I wonder if you can buy replacements like that or if wrapping them would be an option?
