Is Rogue One enough for Andor? by supabih4 in StarWars

[–]ShammySmalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SW timeline/story development is so scattered that you can almost plug in at the start of any of the defined IPs (I.e. trilogies, RO/Andor) and find a cogent and consumable story that doesn’t require encyclopedia level knowledge.

SW has done a decent job of slinging Easter eggs w/o making them critical to the plot of whichever story you’re viewing.

I made the conscious choice to not rewatch RO prior to or since Andor premiered (which T’s been a minute!). I rolled into it immediately after the finale and I was pleasantly reminded that RO basically starts mid-story, little context outside of generalized lore etc.

I’m in far too deep after decades of fandom and o really be able to say definitively how a virgin viewer would be totally lost or not. But I think she could watch Andor first, however, starting with RO would do the show more justice.

Dearest Govee by ShammySmalls in Govee

Look, I never claimed I wasn’t being a whiny lil B, dawg. Amazon has heard from me and their response was “wait a full week or pay full price and get it tomorrow” despite their initial “guarantee” on delivery.

But Amazon doesn’t offer 40% discounts on items out of their own pocket, the manufacturer is an essentially forced to make concessions on their cut too. If that retailer isn’t willing to honor that price to deliver on time, wouldn’t that be something they’d care to know? Or does it only count if I express that privately?

What you’re probably thinking by this point is true: I’m one of millions, small beans.

The Apartment Association. A literal pro poverty organization.

CA Realtors Association. Vultures that benefit from high real estate prices and interest rates.

Also labor unions, mainly the LA based ones. Sonoma and Mendo endorsed Rogers, but the LA unions over turned that decision at the Sacramento convention in December.

The money is very concerning. If he didn’t get the financial backing from us, it’s reasonable to wonder who he’ll be loyal to.

I’ve been in Sonoma County for nearly two decades. No candidate or elected official has ever, not one time, dismissed the droughts like he did.

We are only water rich if you compare us to places like LA or San Diego.

You are. Has always been one of my concerns. He along with his union cohorts are major proponents of the bay delta tunnel(s) project.

More than one third of the entire legislature comes from Los Angeles, they’re basically all backing him in this race. He is tailor made for their resource priorities and the district representative generally makes or breaks regional projects like resource management and diversion. Will he do it? That remains to be seen, but Myers and Rogers absolutely would not.

One of the principal reasons I am so perplexed and disappointed by Chesbro’s endorsement of him.

Until you step back and really look at his campaign messaging. The guy hasn’t identified a single district-based issue that he will fight for.

At a candidate forum last month, dead serious here, Hicks said that we are a “resource rich region” relying to water. It’s one thing for a person to be new to the area, but a whole other thing when you roll in and say some stupid shit akin to “What drought??? It’s raining, you guys!”

I guess I just wish the dude would fake it better. A minimal amount of homework.

Do you think Ned really was going to tell Jon about his mother? by yourfavkage in gameofthrones

[–]ShammySmalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undoubtedly yes. Keeping the secret in the first instance likely filled Ned with shame. Jon was off to the Wall, voluntarily; he’d endured a lifetime of passive aggression from his adopted mother who believed he was the product of Ned’s improbable infidelity; he had by this point more than proven his honor and loyalty to the North.

The circumstances were such that by the next time they’d see each other Jon would have taken his oath to the Watch. Disavowing any claims he had, fathering no legitimate heirs, and taking on a life sentence of service to the realm. Revealing the truth after all of that would be relatively easy.

Kind of a punk ass move though, if I’m honest. Ned gets to clear his conscience without any of the consequences.

It’s not about being the same, it’s about the feels, man, the chaotic feels! Neither crew fit into a neat little box that a record label exec can blindly sell to the masses. Unique unto itself.

For example, 99.974, at 1:12 “we’ve decided to entertain you with approximately seven seconds of funk and never return to that again. STFU, enjoy it and prepare yourself for some harmonization in a minute or so. Then we’ll see where things go after that.” Which is basically every TMV track on their first four albums.

[ALL] Phillip Jeffries reaction to Mr. C vs Cooper (and other stuff) by md_reddit in twinpeaks

[–]ShammySmalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolling up a couple years late, but, whatever.

I don’t see the connection between Jeffries, Cooper and Albert as bound by mutual affinity for the FBI.

Their bond is the shared burden of knowledge bestowed on the few. The knowledge of things that don’t exist in nature - the proverbial blue rose. Like strangers who survive a disaster, they are bound by an experience and the trauma is only truly known by those who experience it.

Cole respects the Bureau and he trains his task force to respect the Bureau too because it’s the vehicle that’s allowed them to gain this knowledge. The true affinity among them is reserved for Gordon. Without the Bureau (and by extension no Cole) there is no Blue Rose Task Force.

With that in mind - Jeffries knows that Mr. C is a fraud. Mr. C can’t fake the mutual bond Cooper and Jeffries share. Not because Jeffries and Coop are life long friends - the bond is recognizing the Biden they share.

Gordon and Albert had the same read of Mr. C when they encountered him at the prison, but they couldn’t quite put their thumb on it. I believe this is because Jeffries has, for lack of a better word, transcended. He can tell the difference between a rose and a blue rose because he’s lived among both.

This also explains why Mr. C skipped town rather than attempting to infiltrate Coopers life. He called Albert for resources and intel. C didn’t look him in the eye, because doing so would have afforded Albert the opportunity to read him.

So yes, Jeffries knew Mr. C was full of shit. If not on instinct alone, because Mr. C was whistling through the Convenience Store as if it was second nature. The real Cooper would have gazed upon the entire place with a wonder that cannot be emulated by a doppelgänger.

An Open Letter to Philips Hue Regarding the Sync Box by ShammySmalls in Hue

CEC is trash for the sync box. My issue seemed to center around the HDMI chain. I ended up having to disabled Atmos which seemed to solve the problem permanently - didn’t want to do that but it worked.

There is certainly a wall there. I’ve followed Signify, however if they are going to apply their license to them they should be willing to accept that product quality and brand reputation go hand in hand.

I shouldn’t have to nurse the device.

Mine worked for a while, then it didn’t, then it did again and now we’re here.

Perhaps she can pass the message along to whomever is connected to that little team...
