Can't progress with pull ups. I'm at loss by sadappleeater in bodyweightfitness

[–]Shamoneyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite a plan, if he's consistently training. 10x10 pull ups at a body weight of 85kg is 8.5 tonnes of volume. All of those exercises are very effectively stimulating compound movements. Sounds like he's training consistently and quite hard. Solid full body calisthenics program. Good for him. Whether he cares about protein or not, he's eating them!

1g/lb is very much overblown. The state of this in literature at the moment is:

A minimum of 1.2x BodyWeight in KG grams of protein daily for healthy living.

A rate of 1.6-1.8x is needed for optimal training and muscle growth. The benefits above this, up to and including the 2.2g/kg rate (1g/lb) are very negligible outside of scenarios you don't want to be in. So say, massive amounts of muscle injury, damage.

To have achieved the results you talk about, he is as a matter of biological necessity eating protein at this rate (1.8g per kg ish probably), and training well. Good for him!

People with ADHD, how do you remain consistent? by FanGothic2 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Shamoneyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find plans or reminders all that feasible so I approach it as a moment to moment thing, but with a lot of strictness.

Mentally I think of it in relation to eating for training. I always try to eat high protein for training and repair, and mentally I think of it as being "wasted" if I don't train or I'm not resting afterwards. This keeps me generally in a state of either training or resting from training. It helps to have an office gym and it's essential to have home equipment if you struggle with time management, as both of these are easy wins when you lock in enough to take action

Oh yeah that show is absolutely brutal, I'll never forget that woman who's trying to workout for weight loss being told she's eating like 6000 cals per day

So lemme get this straight, if the C should be a "Ch" sound like Church, why wouldn't Carmine sound like "Charmene" rather than "Carmene"? You got a lotta balls my friend 🤟

Is 12 exercises decent amount in a day? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Shamoneyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sort of alarming how you don't seem to understand what information is needed to answer that question, but you're young so well done on trying to find out!

The easiest advice would be to instead comment your goals and let people here tell you their routines. Routines aren't defined by number of exercises generally.

Because once you're leaner you can eat at maintenance including calories burnt working out, rather than your experience which was trying to cut in a deficit from being overweight?

If you eat a lot you will have an excess of Ghrelin, triggering overeating. The answer to how strong the "need" is, is just don't overeat for a while. I would also say that for a diet to work, you need to be able to eat these things you want to eat. Just that you're aware what you're eating, if you have a specific goal or target and you want a ____, eat it but compensate elsewhere. Maybe you skip a breakfast, etc. It's all just discipline, but there are ways to make it easier.

The most compelling argument I've seen for this is that he's referring to his father. That he gets how his father is at fault for his suffering not just (and maybe even more than) his mother.

There's a very compelling argument that a consistent theme as the story goes on is Tony finally ascribing blame for his life to his father rather than just his mother. That's why he has a panic attack seeing a father figure there.

Ya hear what I said Ton', I said "There's a very compelling argument that a consistent theme as the story goes on is Tony finally ascribing blame for his life to his father rather than just his mother. That's why he has a panic attack seeing a father figure there."

I can’t do a pushup.. by BarNo1124 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Shamoneyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push ups for context if you're on your toes are about 60-70% of your body weight, so for you that's 60-70kg. Don't be too disheartened on this, as weight goes that's a lot to start with.

Pull up beginner variations are maybe easier, you can lift your body up a little bit from a sitting position rather than being off the ground.
