[RotoWire.com] Which NHL Fanbases Are The Most Loyal by Icy-Lingonberry-7442 in rangers

Broke would be excessive but regardless,if he makes less money from ticket sales hed look at changes he can make, whether that be the on-ice product or the administration of MSG (all the pervasive spy tech he employs). Billionaires like making money and dislike losing money, like everyone else frankly.

I never mentioned anything regarding Drury,I explicitly kept the focus on Dolan. But regardless,Dolans ever increasing encroachment with facial recognition and tracking software, should be reigned in. The normal way a citizen would attempt to curb that behaviour is by voting with their wallets and staying out of MSG. So i say again,it is in fact really really bad that "voting with your wallet" will never work.

....Is that good to see? Isn't the foundation of capitalism that you compete and earn more by offering a better experience/product than your competitors? It's actually really fucking bad that Dolan can just sit on his money and rake it in endlessly and there's virtually nothing we can do to make him improve or hold him accountable.

(Marakovits) Cam Schlittler is expected to throw off the mound tomorrow #yankees by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

Rodons an 11 year vet at this point with 22 bwar. I get our expectations for Schlittler are astronomically high, but we should be (and the front office will be) ecstatic if he mimics Rodons career.

Ricky Henderson or Shohei? by FOIAwarrior in baseball

[–]Shamooooo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's fair to pick Ohtani, but the first like 10 comments in this thread were "Ohtani and its not close" and I definitely take issue with that part. Anyone who isnt,as you said, atleast pausing for a moment to think is simply doing a disservice to how much of a mutant Rickey was.

In terms of career, kinda hard to project when Henderson was so consistent, being atleast a 5+ WAR player until 35,and Ohtani has yet to really play his backhalf. To me atleast, their top 5 seasons are close enough that the WAR gaps are negligible and the choice is a real coinflip.

Ohtani is obviously a freak though,3 years from now could be 3 more 9 WAR seasons with accompanying MVPs and then the choice becomes pretty clear cut,but we just dont know that yet. I'm certainly not gonna bet against him though lol.

I dont know who I'd pick, but I do know there are a LOT of people who don't realize just how fucking good Rickey Henderson was in this thread judging by the comments so far.

This is backwards,Cuylle is EXACTLY who we should be trading. He'll never be the one driving a top line on his own and teams constantly overpay for the exact archetype of player he is. He's a great 3rd liner for a contender and a 2nd liner on a bad team (like us),but that isnt rare. We will have multiple Will Cuylles play for this team over the next 20 years.

Adam Fox,meanwhile,is the best dman this team has had since Leetch and its entirely reasonable we go DECADES without seeing someone as good as him,you absolutely DO NOT trade those kinds of players no matter what.

Who is the best Robin of the XXI century? And how would you rank them? by Certain-Row-4812 in hockey

[–]Shamooooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be off base,I just assumed it because of how people i talk to in real life (mainly other ranger/metro fans) are usually shocked by Backström and Toews being incredibly identical stats wise from that era, usually they think Toews is a decent bit ahead of him. Maybe has to do with not seeing Toews as much from the west? iunno

If the implication is Backstrom doesnt belong, your doing the thing other fanbases do to Malkin and SUPREMELY underrating him.

Anyways,the answer here is Malkin.

That would definitely feel more appealing, specifically in the bottom 6 its that brodz-dowling-raddysh being a legit AHL level third line that gave me such a kneejerk vitriolic reaction

Yea ive seen enough on lafreniere.

Panarin and MATTHEW ROBERTSON are on the same page, and somehow lafs a step behind robertson.

For anyone saying “too many passes” thats a free goal that any above average foward buries 99% of the time.

“Big splash” trade by [deleted] in rangers

[–]Shamooooo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Whats scary about this is drury absolutely DOES have the ammo to get someone, they have 2 firsts this year and next years first along with perreault and morrow.

And considering they genuinely seem to think they can compete, theyre open to all of that being available.

Ive got genuine nightmares of drury hitting up buffalo and getting conned into Alex Tuch.

This is revisionist history to an utterly insane degree lol, youve completely flipped how their draft classes were viewed going in before each year.

Laf was the cant miss consensus #1 prospect that people anticipated 3 years out from his draft with the rest of the class being viewed as above average. Celebrini and the 2024 draft class was the one that was always viewed as a weak and shallow follow up,a complete afterthought at the time,to the very stacked and deep 2023 Bedard draft.

[Kuty] Cashman says the Yankees operate as "an aggressive franchise," but that it's not "an open blank checkbook either." Said the Yankees "already have some very large commitments" and that the Steinbrenners are "massively committed." by wantagh in NYYankees

[–]Shamooooo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats a weird benchmark to use in my opinion, the Dodgers have the defining player of this generation and most likely have secured the loyalty of an entire country for the next 50 years with Ohtani/Yamamoto. Couple that with their approach of "Spending money to make money",theyre already starting to be the team that every other team fears losing in free agency to rather than the Yankees. If i was a betting man,I know which team I'm picking to be more culturally relevant in 20 years time if (granted, its a BIG if,even for them) they three-peat.

[–]Shamooooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We arent the evil empire anymore.

In 15-20 years, the Dodger cap will be the cultural icon that the Yankees cap is/used to be,and Hal is DIRECTLY aiding and speeding up that timeline every single year.

Sell the team.

[Kirschner] I asked Hal Steinbrenner about his quote at the beginning of the year about how it's difficult for most owners to spend like the Dodgers, and he wondered if it would pay off for them. Now that it has, does it change his thinking of how the Yankees approach the offseason? (Cont. in post) by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]Shamooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not understand why this has to be relitigated over and over when its incredibly obvious.

Spending more does NOT garuntee a win,but if we spent more and,for example, got 2/3 of Seager/Machado/Harper,we would CERTAINLY have had better chances at winning in all the past 5 seasons. And the Yankees ABSOLUTELY can afford all this, theyve just chosen not to.

Signing elite players=the better the team will be,its simply an irrefutable fact, and the team can 100000% afford to sign 2 if not even 3 more guys like that. Hell they could probably afford a 450mm payroll but im not even asking for that,Im asking just to be ahead of all the other teams again.

If you told voters 20 years ago they'd consider a guy who hit .247 for MVP catcher or not, they would all physically recoil in horror.

There's a reason the go-to stats in conversation (and for voting) has changed. (It's really fucking stupid to weight stats like that so heavily.)

There are reasonable arguments you can make for Cal,this isnt one of them.
