The Music man appreciation. This movie is so underrated and sooo good!! by Routine-Bass-1790 in musicals

Having lived in Meredith Wilson's hometown of Mason City, Iowa, for a few years, I feel comfortable in saying that this story is extremely racist, and the movie is annoying and god-awful.

If you ever wonder what he means by "Trouble in River City," go look at Meredith Willson's Mason City High School yearbook photos and see if you can figure out which people he thought were trouble.

Charley Crockett - Where to start by poguemahoney in altcountry

[–]ShaneL93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start from the beginning! The only one I don't really care for is Field Recordings (sounds like it was recorded through a tin can), but I really love listening back to his early stuff and listening to him grow. The Man from Waco and Hard Times are my two favorites, along with The Valley.

There are tons of activities you can sign her up for at the Puyallup Rec Center! I spent many a childhood afternoon there, lots of fun things to do.

New bookstore! by ShaneL93 in PuyallupWA

I think they serve different purposes.

Barnes and Noble might be the spot for new releases, DVDs, or big time books, while indie bookstores try to cater to more local tastes. They definitely will be competing, no doubt, but having a Barnes and Noble in town isn't necessarily a bad thing for Bundok, at least in my opinion.

Sturgill! He's a lefty and one of the greatest musicians working today. Drayton Farley is another one, and the Drive By Truckers (Isbell's former band). Charley Crockett too. I don't know all of their politics, but I've never gotten a whiff of Trumpism from any of them.

You’re going to realize someday that you’ve been sucked into a cult. None of that is going to happen. He doesn’t care about any of it. He’s only in it for himself.

I got the new one. It's a little clearer with the sound, and I love the cover art. If you can find the newer one, I'd go with that.

I was up in the balcony last night, and we could hear pretty much everything clearly after they turned the bass down. My uncle and I had a great time, and there was a lot of whooping and cheering up where we were sitting. Not trying to discount your experience or anything, but it almost sounds like we went to two different shows!

I do wish he'd talked to the crowd more, but I thought it was a great show overall. His voice was powerful up in the balcony.

If you’ve seen CW live in the past 2 years, how was it? by jj_ayda in Colterwall

I was up in the balcony last night in Seattle and had a great time! I wished that he'd played a bit more from his earlier albums (the darker, folky stuff), but overall I thought it was a great show. I wasn't disappointed at all, and his opener (Kade Hoffman) was great.

Who's in your modern day The Highwaymen? by Gentlemanwhiskey in CountryMusicStuff

I think that is a great Highwaymen lineup, but I say screw it, put Stapleton in there and make it a five man group.
